Tyler Booker received RG1 reps in practice

Travis Frederick claimed that Smith had benched between 600 and 700 lbs, which would be amazing given his long arms.

I mean he should hafta earn it, no?
He will have to earn it. I doubt anyone on the team is up in arms about who is getting RG1 snaps in May. If I were the coaches, I would want to see as much as I could of Booker as he is the real unknown of the two. Both will get plenty of opportunities to shine.

Let's hope so. Tyler Booker is good at straight blocking if he gets his big hands on you and iron grips you. But if you ask him to move side-to-side often...or pull much, that's when the problems may start. He also bench pressed 225 pounds only 21 times at the Combine. That is very weak for any Olineman coming out of college. That's not taking into effect his extremely slow 40 time of 5.38 seconds, the slowest time among all Olinemen at the Combine, and his 10 yard split of 1.96 seconds was also the slowest. Best not ignore these results or expect them to suddenly get drastically improved in a matter of months.
Travis Frederick says hello. The bench is not a good test of football strength. Rule of thumb that if a lineman has 20 or more he's been in a lifting program. Wisconsin where Frederick came from does not use the bench at all. That's why Frederick also lifted 21 reps. Frederick also ran much slower than 5.38. Both players show on tape that they can pull and hit a moving target. Testing wise its the 20 yd shuttle that should be looked at for guys in the trenches. Booker ran a 4.65 at his pro day which was what Tyler Smith ran.

True, but a Center does not move side to side or pull hardly at all compared to a Guard. That's just the truth. I know. I was a 2 time high school All State Center. A Guard has to be much more athletic and able to move fluidly while being strong both upper body, lower body and core center strength. A Guard is the piston to an engine. The more mobile and stronger PSI your piston creates, the more horsepower your engine builds to use.

So how does that work then?
A first round 29th pick tackle was a mistake to start and needed to have earned his spot and slowly worked his way into the starting lineup...

While the first round 12th pick guard starts immediately in front of someone who did a credible job at guard the year before?

How are positions "earned" in a Dallas Cowboys training camp?

Like Zeke's early year snaps last year even after McFraud had said publicly Dowdle was the best RB in camp.
It’s shows you how much they screwed up picking Guyton! Also had a different head coach making those decisions!

It matters by the scheme. If you do a lot of pin and pull the center needs to be able to move.

Your Guards need to be athletic enough to pin down fast enough to cover the Center's man. Tyler Booker is not there yet, so don't expect to see Cooper Beebe running a lot of pulls if any.

Thank goodness I hate when we put our first round pick at #player on the depth chart during practices! Let them get out there right away!!

Maybe Deuce should be listed as RB1, since all of our RB's are new to the roster and have not earned it yet.

Oh, wait Deuce is only listed now on special teams.
