Guyton still has a long way to go, and as the OP said another full offseason could do wonders for him. Its nice to see some signs of life from him after a truly awful start to the year, but my expectations the rest of the way are still pretty low. Hes still a guy adjusting to NFL level competition and I think he needs to get a lot stronger still.

This is good stuff.

Rookies will have their ups and downs, but you need to see those ups just to make sure they can actually play ball. The rest will come with experience.

I agree that Guyton is not a total bust like Mazi is. He will develop into a good LT.. and this season was to get his feet wet. But he also needs to improve the mental aspect of his game. Too many mental errors. Putting him at LT was not getting his feet wet, more like throwing him into the deep end and hoping he can swim.

The OL was gonna be a problem this season, unless you have a QB who can move around in the pocket and buy some time or run. So Dak’s type of play didn’t help any. Too stiff, scared and slow.

He gets a full off season in the weight room and training/practicing and he will be so much better next year.

Isn’t saying “since week 8” a fancy way of saying “the last two games”? Even Mazi Smith has a stretch of 2 good games.

Y’all said the same thing about Mazi and Trysen Hill. I’ll believe it when I see it. Until then… I’ll keep expecting a holding call or sack on a 3rd down.

I would draft a LT and move him back to the right side where he is comfortable.

He wont reach his potential until Solari is gone.
The full off season in the wait room saying is overused. You don't think he had a full off season in college? Pretty sure Oklahoma knows how to use a weight room.

Guyton was in college for 4 years. It's not like he is a 20 year old rookie who is underdeveloped. He is 23 years old.

That's comparing him with guards and centers.

Is there any improvement since week 8 as a Left Tackle vs his peers there?

Grow guy, and get tougher up front and first step. Not just gambling abstract.

Really, in what direction?????????? Every game he's getting stupid penalties, not to mention how Defensive Ends are beating him like a drum. I'm not impressed with him at all. Once again JJ took a player who didn't deserve a 1st rd rating.

I think Bass will do fine replacing Martin next year especially considering Martin's current level of play. RT is a little more up in the air. It saddens me that Steele's play hasn't improved this year. We can either try Richards there or just go to the draft and hope we get a decent one. Preferably not in the first round, we have other positions of need. Like a majority of the defense.
Asim Richards played RG when Martin missed some snaps in the last game...
