FEATURED Tyler Smith Is Out 4-6 Weeks

We are much better suited that guard I will give you that I wish we'd have kept Hoffman but it's not just bass we have the most talent inside starting guard and center and backup guard and center a lot of dudes on this roster that can cover that up my point was nobody listened to me the last few weeks when there was a few guys clamoring for Tyler Smith being the alternate left tackle and I said no he has knee problems Severe tendonitis means it's not an injury it's a health injury It means some days he feels really good and some days he can barely walk without limping I know what it is I understand what it is i've experienced it but it's not been hidden that much someone do a search and show me where I'm wrong..

But you're right we have more depth inside then we do outside tackles our problem and I'm not that worried about it..
Everyone listens to you. I read every word of your posts. Right now I’m up to March 2025. I’m no quitter. I’ll catch up.

No, but not going to delude myself about it making no difference. It’s a setback.
Yep, it’s a set back. But no need to mope about it. They have Bass who’s showed he can hold his own. This is the type of adversity that I’ve been talking about. Good culture will overcome this “setback”. What, did you think they would go throughout the season without any injuries? They’re will be more as the are with every team.

It's a bummer, no doubt.
I wish they had dealt with it earlier, put him on IR and carried another G, but it's a minor injury and he should be back to 100% mid season.
Too bad Hennessy went down, he would have been a nice insurance policy for things like this.
It's a setback albeit a minor one.
Still, I'm liking the culture Shotty is trying to build..
I was skeptical at first but he's proving me wrong.
I really think the Shotty/Parker combo could be a good one.
We will see.

Maybe that's why they cleared up some cap space last week.....Going shopping for guards and a center????

Guyton is in his original position. He played blindside tackle in college as well. Doesn’t matter that it was RT; he had a left-handed QB. The protections, etc are the same regardless of what actual literal side he lines up on.

It’s not left vs right: it’s blindside vs frontside.

Guyton has been a blindside tackle his entire college and NFL career.
I was joking but, how is not left vs right? Footwork is completely reversed!

Yeah I'm confused too he has a sudden mysterious thumb injury is contradicting what I've been saying for weeks it's even last year when they were talking about him moving the left tackle he said he didn't want to move to to left tackle but when he missed practice he was on a snap count It was all because of one thing that I remember and it will not be put past me it was severe tendonitis in one of his knees he cannot move in space the way he used to he was getting more penalties he was having a problem last year and are we sweeping that under the rug But do you want to go back and do some research Go just go to Google figure out if Tyler Smith was having a problem and figure out if it was tendonitis in his knee and now they're trying to cover it up and say he has a sudden and very mysterious thumb injury even though he's not practice and he's been in no preseason games he hurt his thumb what walking his dog:?
So the Cowboys are lying? Aren’t there rules around medical reporting?

Does it matter what kind of injury he has if he's gonna be out 4 to 6 weeks he's out four to six weeks it's easier to fan base if they know hey he suddenly hurt his thumb Since when does the thumb keep you out four to six weeks i've seen dudes play with a club a big cast put on their damn hand Didn't Jason Pierre Paul play with like three fingers missing right we we should believe that but you're right i'm wrong i'm just wrong i'm very very wrong I admit when I'm wrong I'm wrong i've been saying for two weeks they said tendonitis in his left knee and nobody listened to me but that's OK I thought he was on a snap count but instead he's gonna miss a while.

Sure Buddy

Just because Bass has good numbers doesn't mean Hoffman didn't have better and Hoffman was picked up by another team could possibly start I think they're stupid for not keeping both you get that OK buddy Mister buddy buddy somehow you thought it was going to stay here tonight and just say OK you're right I'm wrong i'm going to walk back into the shadows Nope I'm right hoffman was a great player last year at both center and guard not just guard he was our best backup center we had..

A lot easier for a DL than it is for an OL who rely on their hands when blocking.

You mean illegally holding right you're right If we take that away maybe they 'd be better blockers if they couldn't grab pull..etc
No, not illegal holds. You can legally grab a jersey if your elbows are in. Something like that.

It's OK if you don't believe me just tell me I'm wrong now go back last year dig for information on Google and find out that Tyler Smith's been dealing with severe tendonitis in his knee and now they're trying to cover it up Not lying just saying he has an injury but they're not telling you what the injury is because they don't want to admit he's been dealing with this for a few years he's on the Tyron Smith veteran day off and games missed now because he has something that is not an injury but it's hard to control because he can't keep his strength in his knees he can't move in space he's been getting a lot more penalties and if you don't believe me too bad I don't want you to believe me I want you to think he has a thumb injury that just came from nowhere It's OK..

Reports regarding Dallas Cowboys All-Pro offensive lineman Tyler Smith and knee tendinitis center almost entirely on his right knee, which flared up during 2025 training camp, lingered into the regular season, and ultimately required off-season arthroscopic surgery in February 2026. [1, 2]
The full timeline and details reported on his knee issues and related leg health outline the following progression:

1. Training Camp Onset (July–August 2025)
The issue first became public during training camp in Oxnard, California. On July 31, 2025, Smith pulled himself out of team drills and headed to the locker room. [1, 2]
    • Team owner Jerry Jones characterized the exit as a precaution due to knee tendinitis.
    • Smith told reporters he felt "fine", and head coach Brian Schottenheimer stated the subsequent missed practice time was primarily for maintenance to keep the knee from swelling under high camp workloads. [1, 2, 3]

2. In-Season Management (2025 NFL Regular Season)
Smith managed chronic soreness in the joint for the remainder of the year. While he appeared on Dallas's injury report across multiple weeks, the team opted to manage the inflammation with planned rest days and reduced practice reps rather than placing him on injured reserve: [1, 2, 3]
    • Smith was active but held out of a Week 5 matchup against the New York Jets specifically due to the knee.
    • Despite the tendinitis, he started 16 regular-season games in 2025 and earned his third career Pro Bowl nod. [1, 2, 3]

3. Arthroscopic Right Knee Cleanup (February 2026)
Following the 2025 season and after participating in the Pro Bowl, Smith underwent a minor arthroscopic procedure on his right knee to clean up the joint tissue and relieve the persistent inflammation: [1, 2]
    • As reported by Todd Archer on ESPN via Yahoo Sports, “Cowboys left guard Tyler Smith underwent arthroscopic surgery on his right knee after the Pro Bowl.”
    • He completed his rehab in time to participate in the offseason program. [1]

Context on the Left Leg vs. Right Leg
If you have heard reports linking Tyler Smith's left leg to lower-body medical stories, they generally refer to two distinct non-tendinitis issues:
    • Blount’s Disease (Adolescence / Left Leg): When Smith was 16, Cook Children’s orthopedic surgeons performed a corrective osteotomy on his left shinbone to straighten severe curvature caused by Blount's disease. [1]
    • Confusion with Tyron Smith (Left Knee Hamstring Avulsion): In late August 2022, veteran left tackle Tyron Smith suffered a severe avulsion tear of his left hamstring tendon behind the knee, an injury that forced the rookie Tyler Smith to move from guard to starting left tackle.
