Tyron will be making average starter money by the time this deal runs out.

Do you really think we will keep him under contract for the entire 10 years? This is probably a 3-4 year deal, like what Romo got.

No tackle in the league is making over 12m a year.

When was the last time a 23 yr old Pro Bowler hit Free Agency? Did you see what Patterson just got? The numbers are going to rise. The cap is going to grow quickly.

TSmith gave Dallas a very team friendly deal. The fact that he got super-rich in the process doesn't erase the fact he took less to stay here long term.

But he didn't. His contract will be redone in 3-4 years.

Why would they cut him when they would be just starting to enjoy the benefits of the deal and he was just reaching his prime? The deal isn't 'fake' back-loaded. I could see him playing out the entire contract. If anything Dallas may have to re-do the deal in his favor in 5 years.

Hard work = huge payday

I hope Travis Frederick and Zach Martin follow Tyron Smith's example to a T. There will be issues down the line in retaining all three. However, think how good this offensive line can become if as little as all three guys play up to Smith's ability in the short run. Scary stuff. Scary good, that is.

well tyrons story is a little different. Tyron had problems with his family trying to extort money from him. Jones' got involved and got it sorted with the law and such and now he's happy.

?

How does Tyron's background influence Martin and Frederick's potential of working to become just as good as him?

When has anyone in the league signed anything close to a 220 million dollar contract with 80 million guaranteed?

Look at it in context. How much will an elite LT make in 8-10 years in the NFL? Especially a multiple pro bowl player who's in his early 30s? Offensive linemen play well into their 30s all the time.

Oh good lord. He's 23 years old, the same age as our first-round draft pick this year. He's just getting started.

Great offensive linemen last 12-15 years in the league all the time, and that's after they're 23.

The reality is he certainly gave us a bit of a discount. He is getting a bit more than Joe Thomas who signed back in 2011. In just a few years Tyron will drop to about the 4th-6th highest paid tackle in football. You'll want to see what Nate Solderand Russell Okung get after this to really know for sure though.

You just proved my point, but you don't even realize it.

No, your point was he didn't sign a team friendly deal. You then said it was one of those fake long term deals that teams try to get out of in 3-4 years. Now you are saying Dallas underpaid by so much they will have to give him more money in 5 years. Please pick one.

And in 5 years Dallas will not have to do anything if the market increases dramatically. TSmith's only option would be to hold out and get fined to the moon. He doesn't seem like the type to do that and instead said "give me a little less for longer and I won't have to worry about money or my contract for a very long time".

Donovan McNabb just said on his radio show that Tyron Smith isn't even the best left tackle in NFC east,

McNabb can debate that Trent Williams and/or Jason Peters are better left tackles than Smith. However, he would be an idiot to say the margin of difference between either player and Smith is wide at all. Smith has youth on his side. After his career is over, he may prove to be the best of the three well-beyond a reasonable doubt.

No question Jones is the best OWNER in sports, but his GMing sucks however his recent moves are really good so I think Stephen has gained more control over the team.

If this were so then why would the best owner in sports continue to keep on perhaps one opf the bottom five GM's in this league?

I'm sure Dallas will restructure the contract when they are needing to make cap room outside of that I expect he will be with us for quite a while.
