I had forgotten that.... :-(
Ugh.
Would not be good if we start week 1 without Smith/dealing with significant back pain to go up against Vernon.
Tad worried this issue may never go away.
They're talking about epidurals already.I won't be overly concerned about this until I hear that he needs an epidural or surgery on the disk.

This is VERY concerning. Success depends on Tyron Smith, simply put.
And here's the worst part. Once you injure you're back, you have a bad back for life. It flares up all the time, and doctors can't fix it.
This is a bit of an overstatement, especially when taking into account the back issues Smith has now and could have after, say, a surgery.
I have no idea the extent or severity of his bulging disc, but I had one back in the 90s and had an operation to remove part of the disc. My back has been fine ever since and certainly nowhere near as bad as before. As I said, because part of the disc is still in the back, if I sleep wrong or wrench my back, I can experience some numbness in my right leg as that portion of the disc can press on the spinal cord, but it usually corrects itself in a day or two. I get sore backs from time to time, but again, not for long periods of time.
I had my surgery 20 years ago. Back surgery is more advanced now and Smith will have access to cutting edge training equipment and programs that I didn't have. I wouldn't assume disc surgery, if we get to that point, for Smith at his age would be a career killer at all. It will be interesting to see how the season plays out and if the surgery discussion comes up this offseason.
Backs aren't fixable with surgery. I've known about 100 people who have had back surgery. Didn't help one of them.
Well, you won the powerball. It's the most ineffective surgery out there. Chiropractors are a better option. That's simply false. I had back surgery and it fixed me. At it's worst, I had numbness down my left leg because of a herniated disc (L5-S1) almost daily. I had herniated disc surgery and I have never had that kind of discomfort since.
I doubt you know 100 people who have had surgery and I suspect if you do, many had far more complex back surgeries than if all Smith has is a herniated disc issue.

I've had back problems, and I've been told by numerous doctors that the nerve/muscle relationship is still not understood well. It's not just the disc that causes the spasms, and they don't know how to stop those sensations.
What's the most ineffective surgery out there? Be specific. Don't lump all back surgeries in together because they are not the same. A simple diskectomy is not nearly as serious as say a back fusion surgery, for example.
I'm saying that they have minimal, if any, impact on the recurring symptoms for the vast majority of people. Perhaps for sciatica, but for back spasms and whatnot, it just doesn't work well at all.
And to the point, for a guy Tyron's size, this is absolutely horrible news if they are already talking about epidurals.
He is the lead horse. He is one of the 4 horsemen of the OL !!!!
