Tyron Smith Can Be Useful

If He's happy to be this years Jason Peters and serve as a mentor to Guyton and a serviceable backup at a low cost, why not.
Peters was a big help to the raw but athletic Tyler, maybe Tyron could do the same for the raw but athletic Guyton.

Please no . Did we learn anything from Elliott coming back . Let’s move forward . He had a bad year with the Jets let’s not bring back vets who’ve left the best yrs out on the field already .

If he wants to come back and retire a Cowboy and mentor Guyton and play only if needed, that would be great.

I doubt he wants to do that. He's probably going to retire if he can no longer start and be effective.

If Tyron Smith is willing to sign for a 1 year / $3.5 million per year (plus incentives) deal with the Cowboys for 2025, I would definitely bring him back. Tyron would have to accept $3.5 million because signing him for more would cost the Cowboys a 5th round compensatory draft pick.

Through 10 games before injuring his neck playing for the Jets last year in 2024, Tyron Smith actually graded way much better in overall grade, pass and run blocking grades than anyone we played at Left Tackle last year. By far way better run and pass blocking grades...

Living in NJ, I got chance to watch him play for the Jets a lot last year. Of course he missed games, as usual. But he also struggled in pass protection a lot. He had very little lateral quickness anymore. Guys would beat him outside or inside if he over extended to cut off the outside rush. Sad to watch. He used to be solid as a rock, but not anymore.

Good analysis from someone who probably saw more of him last season then most on this board .

Tyron would absolutely take that deal.....if he thought the Cowboys were a legitimate contender for a Super Bowl.

They are not.

Neither Seattle & Jax are going to a SB anytime soon but that didn’t stop DLaw and Lewis from bolting for a payday . Tyron Smith at this point needs to pad the bank acct so he doesn’t have to be forced into working at retirement from football . SB is gravy on the meatloaf first you have to get the meatloaf .

Celebration restaurant in Dallas makes a great meatloaf either red ketchup or brown gravy and the fried okra and mashed pot are to die for I recommend to Tyron if he lives in the area

All three players would be willing to take less money from the Chiefs, Eagles, or Lions if those teams had expressed any interest.

Money is the priority early in their career. However, if they don't have a ring, then championships become the priority towards the end.

$$$ is always a priority . Lewis said before leaving he wanted to win DLaw ran the Cowboys off the road with post signing comments . Neither of them are in line for a ring unless they purchase it themselves .

I love Tyron Smith. He’s a HOFer IMO. The first decade of his career was truly remarkable.

BUT….his time is up. He’s just not reliable anymore.

OT Tyler Guyton

When the Cowboys drafted Tyler Guyton with the 29th pick in last year’s draft, they hoped they had found their next Tyron Smith. Unfortunately for Guyton and the Cowboys, the 23-year-old could not hit the ground running during his first season in the league, putting together a rather uninspiring rookie year.

In 15 games (11 starts), Guyton allowed 26 total pressure, 14 QB Hurries, and six sacks. Guyton’s Pro Football Focus offensive grade of 49.4 was the worst among all offensive linemen on Dallas’ roster.

One big problem area for the first-round pick during his rookie year was penalties. The 23-year-old was flagged 18 times during the 2024 season, the second most of any player in the league.

Despite his struggles, the Cowboys have not gone out this offseason and acquired a veteran left tackle, making it extremely likely Guyton will be back as the full-time starter this year. If this is the case, Dallas will need a much better version of Guyton if they want to have any shot of making a return to the playoffs.

Smith's position, even today, any difference in these two players? Then there is Steele...c'mon. Any need for basic level improvements? Need a DT? Now, where will successes come from here and now? Get two home run hitters now and get them injured up front...
