Tyron Smith is the MVP of the offense

Cowboys struggled in 2017 to the tune of single digits per game when Tyron was out in 2017 and everyone thought it was because of Zeke being suspended but it was not. When Tyron got back we were hanging 30-burgers + on teams like the Giants and WFT that year even without Zeke.

Last year without Tyron most of the year of course the offense mostly stunk it up.

Other years we haven't had Tyron for various games the offense has struggled to keep the chains moving, run the ball and convert third downs just like the Denver loss.

Tyron is the bellwether player which determines whether we win or lose, not Dak or Zeke or Gallup or Cooper or Lamb or whoever else. If you have Tyron and Zack Martin in the game the Cowboys will score lots of points and most probably win the game.

which make it even more concerning that the front office has done zilch to prepare for his missed games and eventual departure. He has annually missed games and hes a beast no doubt but the best ability is availability. Much like Romo and Dak if you aren't here then its an issue. I actually consider martin every bit as valuable.

you have to give him experimental stuff to keep him healthy at all costs, Or draft a replacement who is just as good (there really hasn't been one in the draft for awhile, neither Sewell nor Slater are in Tyron's league - the last HOF tier tackle drafted was probably Lane Johnson and that was in 2013 and he's mostly played right tackle) - just look at the drafts, the era of the elite LT seems to be coming to an end. For example, guys like Laremy Tunsil and Jack Conklin have been solid but not great enough to not trade (both have been traded).

Playing from multiple scores behind, you get a lot of yardage... and yeah, it was only for 3.5 games. Lol.

And about half of the wins were in the early-mid stretch in that 2016 season where teams hadn't yet figured out Dak or Zeke and still tried to stop a young hungry rookie Zeke with cover 2.... lol.

Agreed on Bakhtiari, who was drafted in the mid rounds but yes he will probably make the HOF unless his recent injuries derail the rest of his career. He's been elite, but let's not hide the fact he plays on Goodell's favorite team and gets away with by far and away the most holding penalties in the league that don't get called.

Since he was shifted from RT to LT after his rookie year he has been the most valuable player to this entire team regardless of whose blindside he protected or coach he was playing for.

He remains the 1A player of importance on an "almost" equal tier to only the QB.

His singular performance at his position singlehandedly impacts the outcome of this team's games. The trickle down affect based on whether he plays or not impacts all three units of the team.

Other teams over the years have seemed to manage to mask, help, hide or replace the loss of a LT but I have yet to see this team accomplish that.

If this team can achieve the coaching up of Steele to be a serviceable LT in the same way as he became a swing RT then the sky is the limit for this offense.

I have my doubts but will be hopeful regardless.

Steele will never be a good LT, he is a good RT but he will never be a LT. His Chaz Green-esque performance against Denver is who Steele is at LT and that won't change.

Collins is both talented and left handed, he should get more reps at the position and consider a career there if/when Tyron retires

You might be right man. Fingers crossed like I said.
I am not a qualified NFL scout or OL coach but I just ain't so sure that Collins has the feet to play the left side. It's a whole different animal than the right.
That kick step of Tyrone is a thing of beauty and not to be taken for granted.

It's why that left tackle position is so highly paid.
Those Dancing Bear three hundred pound athletes don't grow on trees so when ya get a good one you pay him and keep him for as long as ya can.

I am not a qualified NFL scout or OL coach but I just ain't so sure that Collins has the feet to play the left side. It's a whole different animal than the right.

like I said there hasn't been a sure fire potential HOF LT prospect to come out of the draft in a very long number of years. Guys like Tunsil or Wirfs or Sewell/Slater are tier 2. Guys like Greg Robinson and Eric Fisher and Erwreck Flowers were just overdrafted for need.
