If Tyron Smith is going to be back at LT he needs to be activated and slowly worked back in starting off in Jumbo Package to see how he moves and if he still has power. If he excels in that and Tyler and Connor continues to commit penalties then bump him out as LT.

They have something called practice.

Tyron would practice against actual NFL players like Micah Parsons...

Nope, he will be your starting left tackle when physically able.
Dr Jones has already degreed it.

OK Dak Attack I'll actually bite on this one, but you've got to help me out a little bit too.

So in your defense we have a high potential rookie who is showing promise at LT currently. We also have an often injured aging veteran who has missed all of this season. Logically I can understand the argument of having that veteran player earn their playing time. We dont know exactly what player we have at this point and we really dont know what type of 'football shape' he is in at this point and after rehabbing all year.

What I need help with is how does getting Tyron in the game in jumbo packages tell this team any more information than what they will see out of the guy in practice over multiple weeks? If the guy cant move well and lacks physical strength at this point why even have him as a liability in heavy packages?

Tyron Smith is a future Hall of Famer. He's already earned it, when he's healthy enough to play.

I think all the All Pro selections qualify as him earning the job. I'll trust the coaches that watched him in TC every day.

The coaches will make this decision after they watch him in practice.
I mean he's going against the best pass rush in the league in practice. So I would think it wouldn't be impossible to make a determination as to whether he was able to play in games or not based on how he does against our defensive line.

I would put Tyron's future within the following probabilities:

10% - Tyron announces his retirement before the end of the season.

20% - Tyron does not perform well during his 21 day practice window and is placed on Injured Reserve, missing the entire season.

10% - Tyron is activated but they still want to wait a few weeks for him to be 100%. He goes through limited practice for a few weeks but does not play.

10% - Tyron is activated and slowly integrated back into the starting unit. He starts off with certain packages in a limited role.

30% - Tyron is activated and instantly starts at LT while Tyler is switched to LG. However, at some point in the regular season Tyron goes down again. The Cowboys are forced to put Tyler back at LT after playing LG for a number of games. McGovern, who hasn't played LG for that same number of games goes back into LG.

20% - Tyron is activated and instantly starts at LT for every remaining game for the Cowboys.

They’ll watch him practice for a couple-three weeks and if he looks good, they’ll put him out at LT and swing The rookie Smith inside. If he doesn’t, they’ll keep him recovering and practicing and leave the left side of the OL like it is.

A whole lot of thought doesn’t even really have to be put into it, IMO.
