They are gonna see how he practices but they wouldn't start his return timetable now if he wasn't physically close to ready.

It's not a bad take imo. They've been using the term "ramp up" when they were talking about integrating Peters into the playing. There's nothing wrong with easing Tyron back into the game, as he's missed a lot of time. Also, it's not like the OL is getting ran over and need Tyron desperately, so what's the rush?

The Cowboys will more than likely throw Tyron into the lineup like he hasn't missed months of playing football, and expect him to dominate so cheers to #77 being back.
Letting Tyron ramp up isn't an issue at all. Getting him in a couple series the first week he is back, maybe a couple more the following week, etc is a very realistic situation. Having Tyron earn a spot by playing a new position in certain packages is what the OP recommended though. That is not going to tell this team any more than what his practice window will show them. It will tell the fans more, but not the team/coaching staff, which is the absurd part to me of fans thinking they need to be shown anything before a player obtains a certain role. They will have three weeks to evaluate Tyron. That's what is going to be telling, not adding him in as a 6th lineman in heavy sets.

Plus I'm sure part of the reason many wont even give this any conversation at all is you have a poster making the claim that a HOF LT needs to earn his spot, but Isaac Alarcon should have been handed a starting gig out of camp.

If Tyron Smith is going to be back at LT he needs to be activated and slowly worked back in starting off in Jumbo Package to see how he moves and if he still has power. If he excels in that and Tyler and Connor continues to commit penalties then bump him out as LT.

Whhaaattt? If he is healthy. In shape. Ready and looks good in practice then he starts. It's not like he forgot how to play LT being out 10,12 games

1. Put Tyron on the edge in jumbo
2. Announce to the refs 77 is eligible
3. Get Tyron in open space on a quick flat route into the endzone
4. ???????????????????????
5. Profit

I feel we need 2 return back 2 that road grating type of oline. THAT is Dallas football at its best. Which is why I think we need to utilize Peters. His best trait is being a road grater at this juncture of his career. McGovern isnt that. Why not have our best 5 guys out there? No one can tell me McGovern is 1 of the best 5 we have.

I could not disagree more with this post. You don't make a multi time all pro "earn" his spot back. Maybe if Tyler was also playing at an all-pro level you would think this.. but I think we can all agree that while Tyler has been good for a rookie, he is not without warts to this point. If I can get 80% of Tyron Smith back I'll take that over what Tyler is doing right now. That's the bottom line to me. How much of peak Tyron do we get? If he can't get to a level that is better than Tyler then we can talk about sub packages and what not. But they should be able to see that in practice without too much trouble.

I am a fan, but an idiot about positional justifications. I don't know much about T, LT, RT, RG or C.

This being out in the open now, it is clear that LT is the most important position on the OL...soooo, seeing that the Jr. Smith has been more than admirable for a rookie, why the talk about putting him at guard when the Sr; Smith comes back? Can we not put Tyron there and leave the kid where he has been more than fine? Wouldn't Tyron's body take less beating there?

I'm a big boy, so what am I missing outside of Sr not wanting or willing to move?

Tyler Smith projects at G pretty well, Tyron while I think could do it just fine has more of T body and skillset. Plus while Tyler has been good at LT, Tyron has been all pro caliber player at the position, and even in recent years hasnt had his play drop off considerably. In addition to that Tyler actually practiced at G all offseason, Tyron probably hasnt taken a snap at any other position for the last decade plus. For this year it makes more sense to have Tyler make the move, not Tyron.

Tyron is listed at 6-5 307lbs. Those inside guys take on more bigger bodied DT's and Tyler projects better in that role. Plus I know I would feel better with a vet like Tyron going against Nick Bosa in the playoffs than a rookie Tyler Smith.

I'm quite hopeful that Tyron will treat his return to playing LT like a big fish does to water. He's had many accomplishments in the past by manning that position and shouldn't have much trouble re-acquiring his former all-pro skills once again. Hopefully, he'll remain sufficiently healthy.

Let's also hope that Tyson's return to left guard proceeds like he never left to start with. I'm confident he's strong enough to handle it, vs. the best DTs that he's destined to encounter. Those two linemen should give the opposition all they can handle and quite possibly, even more. :)

Tyron Smith is a future Hall of Famer. He's already earned it, when he's healthy enough to play.
I’d like to agree with this, but that’s not always the case. Earned it yes but still capable of it I think so but you know what I’m saying.
