This is what I find strange- the lack of news/rumors surrounding Hardy.

I just did a quick google investigation and the only thing I see is a blurb from February saying he MIGHT be on the Seahawks' radar. Considering that was like 3-4 weeks ago I'm guessing it's nothing.

If he really has no interest from other teams and we DON'T bring him back on the cheap, I think that speaks volumes regarding how the Cowboys really feel about him at this point.

Wondering if its the FO leaking this stuff to drop his price down, brings him back on a cheap deal. Just the kinda deal they seem to love now.

Helman once again doesn't know what he's talking about. Overthecap had them at 7.3 million before the restructure. If he would have took the time to check the roster he would see McClain, Wilber and Brown are not on the roster, thus not taking cap space on there. McClain is at least 4 million himself if the reported deal was accurate. The team was probably hovering slightly above the cap. This move was needed no matter what. Either to sign more players or even just for draft picks

Other The Cap for some reason hadn't factored in McClain or Wilbers contracts as of today.

LM I'm seeing some very bad things about Hardy today. I guess Woody was on ESPN radio and Broaddus on Twitter (although he won't go into detail) but staff and trainers are weighing in on Hardy's actions last year and it's not pretty. I also think the word is out on him in the league which is why it's been so quiet with him in FA. I'll try and track down some particulars or maybe Woody's Girl has some info.

the same was made about McClain and Dallas has gotten him for cheap. If they can get Hardy back in them circustances i can see it done. McClain basically kept the trainers in the dark and didnt even inform them of his surgery until after it was done.

Seattle was probably mentioned because they were really the only team besides Dallas that openly considered adding him last year.

It'll be interesting to see where he winds up. Dallas is probably the leader at this point even with all the reports of him being done as a Cowboy. If that makes any sense. Nobody really wants to deal with him.

Ha. I don't really follow any of those guys. Get most of my info from here, actually. Anything worthwhile gets a thread pretty quickly.

Although it hadn't occurred to me until now that we haven't heard anything about Hardy, in general. For a guy who must be great "click bait" material for the media, I'm kinda surprised.

Well, for what it is worth, they are being all coy saying "there's more to it" than what has been publicized. But if you would just come off the $4.99, well.

He has so many year left on the deal that we can do this three more times to push money into the future. In three years, his original SB is off the books as well.

I don't know that we should have any concerns about this $ three years down the line given how the cap continues to rise. His deal and hit will be small compared to newer ones

This is the first year of his 8 year extension believe it or not.

There is plenty of time left to account for any restructures.

Is he really marketing the 4.99 a month thing now? At one time it was the "for only 10 cents a day" thing.

I'm petty sure the rookie allocation is already worked into our cap number. They don't need to any restructuring or resigning. When they created the rookie pool years ago, they built that into it.

I could be wrong, but I thought that's how it worked now.

No, they will need 4-5m to sign the rookies this year

How does that work? Amari Cooper(4th pick) had a 4.1 million cap for the Raiders last year and Donovan Smith(34th pick) had a 1.1 million hit. I haven't seen the 34th picks salary this year, but 4th is projected to be a 3 million increase to total contract. I was expecting them to need closer to 6-6.5 for this class.
