Tyron Smith

Tyron needs to gain about 20lbs. Considering his age, it shouldn't be a problem. The strength issue will be solved as well. Ibwould like to see Dallas get a couple of 340 lb guards to go with him. To Hell with the little linemen. Get some big mean hogs up front and play smash mouth football. It was Dallas's trademark for a while and they never should have gotten away from it. Get a good running game back, it will slow down the pass rush and wear the defense out. Tyron will be fine. At the worst, he can go back to ROT.

Yeah, I've seen him show far too much ability and potential for me to change my opinion.

I'm disappointed he's struggled but I still feel the sky is the ceiling with this kid.

Every player that comes in this league struggles at LT to start. If it weren't for the false starts -- things that are Cook's fault really -- he'd be rated as having really solid season

He is struggling in his new position, and I for one don't like the move. He came in and immediately became an upper tier RT with the chance to become top 3 if not #1. So we flipped him, and now we have struggles at both tackle spots. Better, to me, to anchor RT solid and give Tony only one side of the line to potentially kill him on any snap...

I see a guy who will be playing much better football the 2nd half of the season...

I think he will be fine after an entire season at LT. A solid guard and center will help him also.

It stings that Watt is playing so well as it was a choice between him and Smith.

Jones moronically went cheap on the offensive line. It is going to get Romo killed and is wasting a huge opportunity for the team. Offensive lines take time to gell but they have to have a base of talent and Dallas does not have the talent or depth on the offensive line to contend for a Super Bowl. Most people knew this going into the last offseason and Jerruh went the cheap bandaid approach.

how is that working Jerruh?

I look at this year being 1st time playing LT, is like his rookie season all over again, but at a tougher position and going against more elite players.
Welcome to the NFL all over again.

I look to see improvement week to week. Also as the rest of the OL gels he will get better and better.

This kid doesn't need any help. He doesn't need another offseason. He doesn't need more weight. He doesn't need anything. The kid has LT figured out. His last 2 games have been his 2 very best. It's clear to see he is settling in. He will be what we all expected the rest of this season. I have no doubt about that.

Nate Solder is playing left tackle for the Pats and looking good. Tyron has a bright future, but It makes you wonder if Dallas would have done better to trade back and select Solder and pick up the extra second rounder that the Jags were offering. I will be honest, I didn't like the Tyron pick at nine. If Tyron has trouble with the left side, Solder and a second would have been the best deal. Just something to think about.

It's something to think about but I believe two years from now you'll be very pleased with the decision to select Tyron.

Solder looks like he will be a GOOD LT. And that is all.

Smith could become a HOF LT.

It was from any point of view the right pick. When you have a chance to pick someone that could be in the HOF one day you do NOT TRADE DOWN.

Cowboys were in NO position to be trading down anyway. They had the 9th overall pick for a reason. They needed a top 10 player to come to this team.

Tyron Smith is the only guy I feel good about on the O Line on the entire roster.

But what is Smith *now* at LT? Good? No. Average? Not even.

Who would you want blocking at LT, tomorrow, last play of the game? Yep.

I am not trying to run down Smith who I like immensely, but there is something to be said about not putting a square peg in a round hole. Right now, we have two holes not filled...

yawn.

why bother?

If you cannot see that he is improving and figuring it out then there is no point.

Real well, recently? Whoakay. He is keeping pace with Doug Free for most penalties, so I see where you are going there. But if the object is to maintain blocks and prevent pass pressure, then, mmmmmno. Show me anywhere he has graded out well, in any game this year.

Yes, why bother, if we don't see him on a clear path to the HOF then we must not be watching the game, huh chuckles?

Tyron Smith is not very good at LT right now. If you cannot see that, then you prove the axiom that there are none so blind as those who refuse to see.

How many penalties does smith have in the last 2 games?

Better question -- how many of those penalties came b/c the center didn't snap on the right count?

and also, Smith will continue to get dinged in PFF ranking b/c of his personal foul for a horse collar. Would anyone in their right mind downgrade him over that penalty? He saved 4 points. However, that will cost him in the PFF rankings all year.

Tyron Smith is the only bright spot on the entire offensive line. His athleticism is elite. I bet he would have made a hell of a defensive end.
