Are we operating under assumption that he is out for the whole season? I don't know what sucks more, losing him for most of the season, or when Spencer leaves not know what you have behind him?

if it is ruptured achilles, he is out for season

If it is a very small tear then maybe not season ending. Most of these are complete tears with the tendon off the bone. Gotta reattach it and I'm guessing they are drilling thru the heel but that's just an educated guess. So no I don't see him being back until next year which sucks.

I saw a couple Achilles surgery videos after Kobe Bryant went down with the same injury and never once saw any drilling going on. One of the doctors they had on ESPN Radio and TWC Sportsnet (Lakers station), Dr Klapper, said how new sewing techniques they have for this type of injury allows athletes a great chance of returning, compared to many years ago when it was basically career ending. If I remember correctly, regarding Kobe, he said he would probably lose an inch or so from his vertical leap.

Here are two videos:

WARNING: they are a bit graphic.

Sorry it seems the videos have embedded...I don't know how to undue that. I just pasted a link to the video.

Yes, the geriatric coach who lead USC to a #60 ranked total defense, giving up 62 points and over 700 yards in 1 game at his last stop. Trust in Jerry Jones, his results over the last 17 years speak for themselves.

well it is a good thing he doesn't have to suit up then, isn't it?

Doesn't surprise me the techniques have changed in one of the fastest changing fields of medicine. I'm glad they are doing better with this injury. I'd expect him to return next year though.

No big surprise here, just figure out where you're weakest and cannot afford to lose a player and you'll lose two on the first day!

Going thru Tyrone's twitter, you get the sense that the dline is a close knit group. They do a lot of stuff together outside of work. So they lost one of their brothers today, Brent for good last week...dline needs some reinforcements fast. Wilber needs to grow up fast and Lissemore needs to finally show more of that potential we keep hearing about.

Wilber will back up Ware and like he and Spencer, he's undersized.

The bad thing about losing Crawford, he was about the only end on the roster with good size and position flexibility.

This DL system relies on depth, much like our lines did back in the early 1990s, with rushers coming in waves.

I do not think there is another end on this roster capable of being the kind of player we need.

Now here's my thing... was Craw even that kind of player, this guy was no sure thing imo.

Reading this just makes me sick about the injury. Tyrone is definitely a "RKG".

Say hello to DE Alex Albright.

I actually want to see Albright as starter at Sam (beating out Durant)...he is very athletic and GREAT covering the TE...I think SLB plays more to ALL of his strengths...I think we should look to sign one of the UFA's out there...there is quite a long list of fairly decent names to bring in that may give us as much as Crawford...that stated, I am very bummed we lost him...this was a big year for him to prove his worth for the future.

Very disappointing injury...just heart-breaking. Crawford was supposed to be one of the big reasons why they felt like they didn't need to draft DL...he would've been more than just depth, he would've rotated and gotten plenty of snaps. It will be hard to fill that void

In all seriousness, though, Garrett should take a page from Parcells and make mandatory knee braces a requirement until these guys get in better shape, at least.

So who's a possible free agent replacement???

It is said Will Smith might be released by the Saints also Vinny Curry has been speculated for months as a possible cut by the Eagles in their transition for 3-4.
