Know it's sounds cliche but every team has injuries, it's the team's that can weather the storm and stay competitive despite taking shots like this are the ones that end up being champions.

Agreed that every team has injuries.........but in the first couple of hours of the very first day?
Hate to say it, but the timing of the injury probably couldn't have happened at a better time, if it was to happen. Would have been far worse, IMO, at the end when there wasn't enough time to make adjustments.

Who says they haven't prevented many of them from occurring?

I see all sorts of folks in all sorts of professional sports tearing their achilles.

I think the problem is that these guys work out constantly now. There is no "offseason".

Football players use to be big... just because they were big. Now you've got big & muscular which may put all sorts of extra stresses on the body... Stresses that can't be alleviated in all circumstances.

LOL, wow, folks. A little perspective please.

Guess what, every team is going to lose a few players for the season in camp. The Cowboys are likely to lose another 1 or 2 before the Giants game. Nature of the business.

Awful for Crawford, but if a backup defensive end was the only season-ender in the preseason for us, we would be LUCKY beyond reasonable hope.

And if you're going to loe him, this is the time to do so. Lots of time to evaluate and decide what needs to be brought in.

Now, if this was Romo, Ware, Dez, Witten, Smith, Lee, Carter, Claiborne, Carr......it would be really bad. But we can consider ourselves fortunate if its backups we lose.

This is bad news, Ratiff and Spencer both got banged up too, they both need to stay healthy now for sure.... Now we need to sign a guy who can produce, maybe a John Abraham

Tough loss. Not only is he the most talented backup DL, he can pretty much play all positions along the DL so you miss that versatility. Hopefully a guy like Bass emerges and shows he can be a valuable contributor.
