What exactly do you call producing?

One of the best return averages in the NFL's not good enough for you?

Why even bother.

I call producing giving good field position in times when we really need it like right after an opposing teams score. It's not how the average of his returns look as a whole that matters, it's when he has his key returns that matters most.

Uhmmm....you want really good returns right after the opposing team scores? You do realize that all but a maximum of 6 of his returns have been after the other team scored right? I'd look up the difference in average between those 6 and his others or even if he returned all the half opening kicks to make six but this argument is so stupid it's not worth the time.

Maybe you think it's stupid because you know I'm right about actually believing what your eyes are seeing. How did those returns last night after Giants scores work out? Did they help us out? I didn't see it.

tyson is 3.5 yds from leading the league. but i guess your eyes are better than the facts.of all the full time return guys he is pretty dang good. people have this false assumption that guys are returning kicks for td's every week. it does'nt happen.

Then you need to either open your eyes or stop drinking so much.

He averaged 22.7 yards a return last night. That's better than the league average.

Plenty of players had bad nights, some had terrible nights but Thompson wasn't one of them.

Here are his returns from last night. An i wouldn't care how many yards he is from leading the league, last night he sucked.

J.Feely kicks 60 yards from NYG 30 to DAL 10. T.Thompson to DAL 29 for 19 yards (J.Tuck). Return left side of the field.

J.Feely kicks 72 yards from NYG 30 to DAL -2. T.Thompson to DAL 20 for 22 yards (R.Torbor). Return left.

J.Feely kicks 67 yards from NYG 30 to DAL 3. T.Thompson to DAL 22 for 19 yards (G.Wilkinson). Return middle.

J.Feely kicks 71 yards from NYG 30 to DAL -1. T.Thompson to DAL 25 for 26 yards (C.Blackburn).

Somebody needed to step up and make a big play last night and no one did. TT didn't either. It just wasn't our night.

Thank you daboys79. You just illustrated my point perfectly. How many of those returns are past the 30 yard line. My point here is, there is no explosiveness in this guy's returns, not that he is a total bum. He's just not a guy we can rely on to give us excellent field position on a consistent basis.

So you are saying we need to trade TT for the ONE person in the NFC that is better than him?

Tyson is the best we have and he's better than EVERYONE else in the NFC save one. How would you like us to start at the 10-15 yd line everytime???? That is what you are asking for and you don't even know it.:laugh2:

His job is to follow the wedge and hope there is a hole. There were no holes. I thought the problem last night is that the wedge blockers would take off too late. If the wedge hesitates, it really takes away from the hole developing. Thompson is doing fine on returns. Some tweaking needs to be done with the unit as a whole, but he is not the problem.

Am I just delusional or does our coaching staff just suck? I watch a lot of football and we must have the worst KO return team in the league. What is up with this guy running the ball right into the back of the blockers on every attempt. Does Bill think this is OK? Why does he keep putting this crap on the field?

Why have I been thinking the same exact thing for this entire season now..!!!?
It seems as if he is scared to fumble or somethin..

Thompson being the KO returner is as horrible as any decision that the coaching staff has done this year. seriously i doubt thompson even knows what lateral movement is

I'm no expert...but I see more guys bust loose going right up the gut than dancing around...LOOSING yards.

But then you guys are the pro experts. What do I know?

You are exactly right. The big returns usually do come from hitting the hole hard and then making 1 or 2 guys miss once you bust through the first wave. Last night, there were no holes to burst through.

Thompson has been a good kickoff return guy for the past year from what I've seen... last night was just a terrible game all around... Giants just wanted it more... shouldn't be dominating physically the way they did....
