Maybe Nate has trouble putting names to a player on the roster, but I would consider his opinions lightly for the time being. Most of what he said during the radio segment I heard was his assessment from last TC, so who really knows.
Perhaps there's some truth to the whole memory-loss thing.....

Nate's assessment relevancy depends on whether McQ is getting beat do to a mental or physical deficiency. If it is the former, I won't worry so much but if it is the latter then his chances of becoming a good NFL linemen is slim and none. For our sakes let's hope it is between the ears.

Also, hopefully the “zoner tar and feather committee” will take it easy on the fella because history has shown us that it takes time for an offensive lineman to fully mature into the position.

The Raiders moved his brother to G immediately, maybe that's his destiny?

ohh come on guys, when i said i was hgh on doug free.

i meant that doug free was one of the offensive tackles that i thought would go in the 1st or 2nd round, and we got him in the 4th round, a steal

also, doug free was nicknamed the Freak because he could run with most of the wrs in practice, and when a wr caught a ball a few yards downfield, before the wr was running, doug free was there blocking for him,

on nate newton, and mcquistan, i am still high on him, and i agree, still kinda early to judge him, i was trying to let you guys know what nate said

what nate meant was this in OTAs practices say i am the defensive end, and i beat mcquistan over and over again on one move, the same move,

nate was saying, you cant do that in the nfl and survive, something like that; thats why nate was down on mcquistan, now McQuistan might need to be moved to OG, maybe his more natural position, he is big and nasty too from what i have heard.

out at OT as all you know he is out on an island, and can get beat more easily there than at OG, where traffic is conjested some, and mcquistan might be one of those players that doesnt practice good, but come game time, boom, he excels, so its true we have to give him the benefit of the doubt

like nate newton said, he liked joe burger, but i never did, he mostly just got in the way blocking

Maybe it's the switch to guard. I think he has better size and feet for tackle.

Although the Cowboys have talked about moving McQuistan to guard, they've never followed through on it.

He was supposed to be moved last year, but ended up being our top tackle backup. And this year, Dallas is apparently moving James Marten to guard and keeping McQuistan as the backup right tackle.

Ahh ha, the old Marten and McQuistan switcherroo trick, should have seen that one coming a mile away.

My bad, I thought McQ was already transitioning from OT to OG.

If Newton is talking about OTAs, then he's just talking to be talking. The defense has a distinct advantage in minicamps and OTAs because the contact is limited.

nate keeps on having all these comments about how players acted in december and about heart etc.

But Nate Newton is the guy who set up a video shoot to make a superbowl shuffle video the first week of december in 1992. Jimmy johnson nearly killed him and made him cancel all of it.

So how does he have a right to keep calling all these guys out. If he says a lineman is playing poor in mini camps that is fine, he has to know line talent and technical misatakes when He sees them. His other comments though ring hollow. This team needs to play better and finish stronger and win in the postseason. Plain and simple. All his reasons are empty to me.

I mean how does he have a right to talk about romo going to mexico when during his playing days he was pulling that nonsense. Making a super bowl shuffle video on a team that got blown out in Detroit the year before in the divisional round of the playoffs?

wow theebs, i didnt know that, but i back up what nate said, by what cricket deion anderson said, he said the cowboys in other words, took it lightly in december and january, but now they are focused,

deion went on to say that all last year, tony would joke a ton etc, but now tony is more serious and determined like the other dallas cowboys players

thats what i have been saying and nate, the cowboys players havent played with focus and determination in december and january, now they seem to be

of course, i have to see it now, no more excuses, show me in december and january

This really doesn't mean much to me. I swear, every year we hear about O-Linemen getting beat in practice. So it's really hard to take it with anything more than a grain of salt.

Nate's become a sound bite, nothing more.

I'll admit that Nate is absolutely right.... sometimes, but also alot of the time I've listened, he is talking out the side of his neck and doesn't have a clue.

Did Nate do anything before Emmitt arrived and made the offensive line better then it was?

As other mentioned....Nate shouldnt be taking any shots at the current players about heart...etc. Nate was along for the ride IMHO.....when he retired....he went about transporting pot on more than one occasion.

IMHO....I think his views are worth a grain of salt.

Don't get sucked it by Newton...maybe it's because McQ is white...I'm serious...you know he had no problem throwing other "white" players under the bus when he played.

Hate to play the race card but if Nate read this he'd know about the revelations in his playing days and it has to count when he evaluates talent. Sorry, I've just lost a lot of respect for him no matter who he elaborates on.

let's be honest...why do ANY of us think McQuistan has a future? I'll tell you why, because Parcells led us to believe he does! Not saying Parcells cannot evaluate talent, but that does not mean he is always right....his entire evaluation of the OL both from free agency and the draft perspective was a big fat zero.....and to compensate for wasting so much of Jerry's money he tried to make a player out of Rob Pettiti and Torrin Tucker....neither who are in the NFL now if I am not mistaken. The next draft will be about offense...both OL and WR

As usual the BP haters forget certain things:
Who was it that got Colombo?
Who was the only person who wanted to give Gurode one more chance in 2006?
Who was it that convinced Jerrah in early 2003 to give the Hotel a big contract?
Pettiti was a 6th rd pick who started for a whole season. Was not that bad untill late in the year. Peterman is starting for the Lions - which means he is not a total loss either. Of his O line picks only Rogers was a total loss.
Rivera was a good pick up who just happened to injure his back; Kosier is still the starting left guard.

Oh there you go again. Inserting some fact and logic into something that was supposed to turn into a bash BP to death session.

So?

There's a reason we drafted two more OL in the last draft (2007)

McQ was more of a Parcells pet, then he was a real player.

And I can care less on top of that what Nate says. We have yet to even start TC, and what ever he may think, is just his opinion.

I'm trying to figure this out since no one has been wearing pads and OL are not having any real contact at this stage.
