Super stoked about the Cleveland trade. I'm just thinking we gave away a third (which is not a throw-away) to move up a few slots. I don't think that was a great deal. I guess that depends on Spencer. I just know we drafted another LB 1st last year and he barely played. But keep the LBs coming. Maybe next year we can pick up two first rounder LBs.

again please understand the diffrence in our system between Linebackers, and passrushers

we have drafted some "Linebackers" (Carpenter, Burnett) and some "pass rushers" (Ware, Spencer) in the last three years.

Absolutely not. Even if Romo bombs this year, you have to think that getting that extra 1 next year puts us in a position to pick up a QB should that become necessary. I can't wait to see Spencer in action next year.

the lions took 4 recievers, were fine man pass rushers are critical to sucsess as much as a great offensive line.

I want' high On spencer going in but we had an amazing draft today!

So a first round pick on a situational player? Wasn't that one of the knocks on Ginn on this board (Why take a WR in the first, when he's only going to be good for punt and kick returns)? I don't hate the pick, some of my initial comments were just a knee jerk reaction I admit, but I still don't love the pick either.

Sorry guys but i have to disagree.

The Cleveland trade was just great for us. the second trade with philly was not a good one. nothing against the pick we did in spencer but to give away a high second rounder a third and a fith for a low first rounder is just not a good deal at all.

you can add our deals together and i am with you that we still have a positive day. but you have to look only at the second trade (also this thread is about that deal not both deals together) and again imo the price for that first rounder is way to high (especially to deal our picks to philly).

Ware is a linebacker, that was a big point of Parcells "I'm making a linebacker" or something along those lines. Merriman is a pass rusher, Ware was thought to be a linebacker by BP. Just because Ware is also good at rushing the passer doesn't mean he isn't a linebacker.

LB and Pass Rusher need to be the same guy. They still have to occupy one postion on the football team, unless we plan on shuttling guys in every other play - hoping to guess every pass and run play.

We don't need a star player. We need a pass rush. That was our biggest problem last year. I think safety and offensive line play can be a problem also. Possibly a defensive tackle. We have 3 really good wide receivers and 2 younger receivers that showed potential.

So Dallas added a great LB to play in the 3-4 that relies heavy on the LB play. If this move helps Dallas generate more of a pass rush then I don't see the down side to this.

That's just how it is... When you move up, you expect to get the worst of the deal. You can't come out on top with every trade you make. You just have to hope the positives of your moves outweigh the negatives. And IMO, that's an easy call to make.

I don't hate it but I would rather see us get Branch. Hopefully he continues to slide to us in the second. If that happens then I will be thrilled.

Let me get this straight... We gave up Cleveland's 2, our 3rd and 5th to move up? I'm sorry I'm behind, but can someone confirm that for me?

True dat. All depends on the player in question. And I think it's a good pick.

Nothing against Spenser(For Hire)...but I think we should have stayed with the picks we had.

And I KNOW there are a ton of you Parcell's haters out there that would have screamed bloody murder if he were here and took another LBer. Fess up.

Where at any point in my post did I say we need a "star player"? We addressed the Safety and OL position in free agency. I said before this draft happend our biggest needs were CB, WR, and pass rusher, then OL coming in as honorable mention. I just didn't like this pick, forgive me for having a different opinion.

How could you not like the pick? We got our edge pass rusher on the outside, which we lacked last year.

We didn't need a receiver, we have owens, glenn, and crayton this year. Not to mention Hurd and Austin.

As for offensive line, we have adams - davis - gurode - kosier - columbo.

we also didnt need a corner this year.

We needed an impact player in the first, and that is what we got.

We could probably use a guard, but not in the first round...
