 No pump fake from the Snake but Glenn bit and got beat on a pop fly to Smith - one of the worst TD's I've ever seen at Texas Stadium...

I actually thought Bledsoe to Bailey was worse.

That really was not Glenn's fault. He expected that rush to get to the QB. They sent 9 guys but got zero pressure. Glenn probably figured a sack or a very fast release from Jake. He was in position for either of those plays but obviously was not thinking they would go to the house w/ that pass. Most instances the QB does not make that play.

That is just a very savy veteran in Rod Smith, who has been there before, understanding what needed to be done. Not even Anthony Henry would have made a play on that move.

You just have to give credit where credit is due. Rod Smith is still a very good WR.

Well he was the ONLY cover man for 50% of the field acuse we WERE Blitzing 9 guys therefore TNEW has the other 50% so pretty much any pass if gleen fell behind would have been a td

A pump fake or lack thereof had little to do with the TD.

Glenn knew they were blitzing. The standard hot read for a blitz like that is either a slant, a fade, or an out route. Glenn read that Smith was making the out route. Smith actually made an out route then went up. If the blitz would have gotten to Plummer, they would've either taken a sack or it would have been thrown out of bounds. Denver's O-Line picked up the blitz, and that gave Plummer and Smith enough time to make the double move and score the TD.

Sure, I would have liked to have seen Glenn cover that better, but I see why it happened and can't totally fault him for that.

Led me shed some light. I graduated 05'. 3 year starter at my AAAAA high school in georgia. I was all county junior and senior year.

My Credentials: I played 7 players who are d.1 in man to man the entire game and shut all of them down.

Schools like UGA, AUBURN, SOUTH CAROLINA,STANFORD. Not small d.1 schools.

I will say this, I bet anything I have, NO ONE on this site could have covered that route. The out and up is the hardest route one on one in football IMO. If you don't bite on the out, they complete that for 15 yards, if you do, they go deep and you risk a touchdown. In an all out blitz like that, the db is expecting the ball to be thrown quick. Blame this on the 9 players who didn't get a rush on Plummer, not Glenn. The out and up takes AT LEAST 5 seconds to develop. In the same situation I would have bit on the out to, expecting the pass rush. Even if it werent a blitz, unless you have a safeties help that route is damn near impossible to stop. I'm glad high school qb's don't throw it.

When you bring the kitchen sink and still can't get to Plumber, you deserve to give up a TD.

What Muhast said. The fact that a play like that takes time to develop and still got off, during a blitz no less, is a stark indictment of most everyone else on the field except for Aaron Glenn!

LOL

Man, we have some of the most apologetic fans in the world. It's never anyone's fault. Especially Rob Petitti.

Wow.

Ummm... yes it was. Glenn had a great game, but let's not act like he is or was perfect. He was man to man on Smith on that play and got beat. His fault. It happens.

Glenn played a very impressive game and to me proved all who thought he was finished wrong.

Im sure we have some individuals who have played Cornerback before at one level or the other.

I know you guys are going to jump all over me for getting on Zimmer, but I just really have to put this one on him because I really think he lacks creativity in his blitzes.

Okay, we went ZERO coverage on that play and brought the WHOLE house along with the moma's kitchen sink. Glenn, rightly thought that the QB wouldnt have enough time to throw the ball because heck, his Defensive Coordinator just sent the entire house so as I stated, he rightly thought it was going to be a quick pass to the sidelines.

I beleive Phil Simms backed Aaron Glenn up and was thinking what I was thinking. Saying that Glenn thought it had to be a quick pass because the blitz was seriously on.

I think that is why I am so down on Zimmer alot. Yes, he will bring the blitz, but I never really see him take advantage of disguising the blitzes or even trying to beat the QB by trying to make him think about what coverage is going to be called.

Yeah I know, another bash Zimmer thread. Im not trying to start any of that but I think Glenn has to be given the benefit of the doubt on a full house blitz and the blitzes dont even sniff the QB.

We also have some of the most unrealistic fans in the world, who think our players are supposed to be perfect while the other team's players shouldn't ever make a good play.

I agree.

We have some really ignorant fans, too.

Like one who could watch that play and say that Glenn was blame free.

The defense sacked Plummer twice and banged him around quite a bit. Considering that Denver is second in sacks allowed, only behind Indy, I thought the defense did a pretty good job at attacking Plummer.

That TD to me was more of a great play by the Denver O-Line, Plummer, and Smith than it was bad play by the defense or Glenn.

It's not being apologetic for the defense or the players, it's giving the other team credit for making good plays.

You haven't been around long, have you?

That's what happens when you send 9 players after the QB and don't get there.

We sent 9 players. they had 8 blocking. to overmatch them and not get pressure is sad.
