It's time to cut ties. Maybe he finds success elsewhere. But it's not worth taking up a roster spot for a guy that will just not contribute

It could be time to cut bait. Wish we could have seen what he could really do.

Practice squad for him. I doubt if any team claims him. Doesn't hurt the Cowboys to put him on the PS. Maybe he will be healthy and needed in a couple of weeks. No big deal.

The problem is that you can't cut an injured palyer, they may have to carry him until he gets healthy. Unless they reach an injury settlement, and if they do that, he is ineleigble to re-sign with the Cowboys practice squad.

Gotta go, gotta go.....seems like a hard working kid and talented, but the ability to remain healthy is essential to last in this league.

there is nothing gained by cutting him if he is injured enough to put on ir. does'nt cost much at all to keep him and you never know if he can get healthy. the staff talked about how well he looked when he was healthy. if you can keep his rights you lose nothing by keeping him on ir and see what happens next year

IRVING, Texas – There was trepidation and a sense of uncertainty in Jason Garrett’s voice when Matt Johnson ’s name came up as the head coach began listing players he expected to return to practice next week before the regular-season opener.
Nothing Garrett said Thursday suggested a quick return for Johnson next week, which could be troublesome for the bubble player as roster cuts approach. Johnson missed the remainder of the preseason after leaving the Hall of Fame Game with a foot injury.
“Anticipate him being out a little longer than that,” Garrett said. “Again, that was an injury that we thought he might come back quickly or it might take a little bit of time. It turns out, it’s taken a little bit of time.”

Please. Cut this guy

i don't know about keeping him on the roster. but there is no harm in keeping his rights by putting him on ir if thats possible. a roster spot is valuable. ir does'nt effect your roster at all. and really by the time you paid an injury settlement it does'nt cost you much at all to keep his rights that way. i don't know that i would keep him on the roster though, that spot is too valuable

IR designated to return makes perfect sense for him. By the time he's ready to come back someone else will be hurt and open up a roster spot.

I think we can only use this on one guy, and Ratliff was the guy.

Because he will do the same thing next year. Dude is made of paper and the NFL is a rainstorm. He just cant hold up.

Maybe. Or it might just be a case of a lot of bad luck. There have been plenty of players who had a rough start to their careers with injuries and then at some point they continue to play for years without anything major popping up. Hopefully that will be case for Johnson but only time will tell.

Very true. I'll bet Jerry would like a do over with Jimmy Smith.

Maybe this is the conspiricist in me.. But has anyone ever wondered that he could be faking an injury cause he doesn't want to play for the boys? I knew a guy in hs who joined the football team and would fake an injury cause he didn't like the head coach and was buying time so he could transfer to a different school. Just putting it out there.
