tomson75;1941564 said:That was a dumb play call. You just don't turn down opportunities like this. he's hot right now, he might not get another chance. Not that I care either way.
Cowboy Bill Watts;1941853 said:why is it dumb? maybe the guy doesn't want to be a HC. not everyone is cut out for that. philly DC jim johnson and OL coach hudson houck come to mind...
WoodysGirl;1941798 said:All things being equal, it's just like you said, there are only 32 spots in the league and JG had an opportunity for two of them.
No matter the assumption for JG's supposed incumbency within the 'boys organization, there's nothing in his contract that states he's the next HC. I have no doubt that Jerry WANTS him to be the next HC, but I thought it was even more interesting that he didn't lock him into the organization completely.
Well, I think it's a good gamble to have. Jerry to where if Garrett doesn't live up to his "Genius" billing, then he's not locked into some legal wrangling and can hire another coach or extend Wade (who knows) without something like that hanging over the organization. I like the fact Jerry kept his options open.tomson75;1941889 said:Yep. I'm scratching my head at that too.
I think both of these guys are gambling, only Garrett has a slightly better flop.
Don't see it as hating. Just that I think that the same logic should apply to both JG and Spagnoula, should Spagnoula decide to turn down a HC offer.I don't think anyone is "blaming" or otherwise hating on this decision (i didn't mean to come across that way), but rather questioning the ease of which an opportunity can be dismissed. They don't come along everyday.
Sportcenter is reporting that he's meeting with the Commanders tomorrow.
Even if Strahan retires, the Giants still have Kiwanuka, who was injured early in the season. If Spagnola stays, the Giants are the top defense in the NFC.nyc;1941589 said:Good news will be in Strahan finally retires now that he got a Superbowl. (he is actually more about money though) If he does, the Giants won't have Strahan, Umenyiora, and Tuck on the field at the same time anymore.
That will be incredibly good news for anyone playing the Giants.
