Well the great news is that the 5 game experiment at DC has been addressed by adding an experienced competent coach to straighten it out.The Bucs game was a total cringe, especially for our defense. Yet, we all know Christian Parker is new and a lot of players are new. Players need to commit their defensive scheme to muscle memory, and it doesn't happen overnight. Did I think they would be a lot farther along than they showed? Absolutely. It was painful to watch how they kept missing assignments and getting burned. It could be a train wreck season, but I wouldn't say at this point that that's inevitable. Maybe these guys can still gel and become cohesive and thus a lot better. I don't mean to post an empty pep talk. I'm not saying if they work hard, they can definitely become a top 5 defense. But things can change quickly in athletics. We've seen teams stink it up in the first part of the season and then get it together with winning streaks down the stretch. And I don't think it would be smart to fire a defensive coordinator after only 5 games.
I'm not saying I'm convinced that this D will definitely become great. I'm just wondering if it might be able to improve, thus giving this team a better chance to win. I also don't think the NFC East is looking like all that strong of a division, at least it isn't from what we've seen so far.
This team has needed that for some 3 decades now. To say Jones has a blind spot for that would be a massive understatement. Everyone has blind spots, but Jerry's blind spot is the size of the Titanic. The answer to this question is the same as the answer to all other Cowboys negatives - a new, actually professional GM that is accountable for his job performance.
We know his defense wouldn't work here he doesn't have the tough minded players to run his schemeHire brian flores and give him complete control
