It's a shame that we made the coaching change a year too late.

Don't get me wrong, it had to be done and about 4-5 years too late, but even still I wish we could know for sure if it was Dak as a player or poor coaching and scheme.

Shannon Sharpe and Skip Bayless discuss the possibility of the Dallas Cowboys using their franchise tag on Dak Prescott to postpone a contract extension for the young quarterback.

Daks not a Ferrari, bad point, so yes a dealership will deal..Dak has to come down some of he want to a LTD or gets the tag.period..mentioning Romos deal maybe Jerry learned alittle from that..

bad blood NO Dak and his agents are being unreasonable and causing this situation.. its why the tags there..BTW if Dak cant pick up the new offense quickly, thats another reason to not sign him, if he cant learn it in the offseason , practice in PS and be ready new terminology or not, thats an issue..if hes a slow learner that explains a lot..

if thats the reasons thats a red flag..baby dak, thats the way to put in a Offense with creativity and depth, oops no its not keeping it dumbed down Ie vanilla so your star qb who thinks hes worth 35mil can understand it, is a bad start to this regime..

It would be great if we could trade him in the next few years for a first rounder and go get a cheap RB and start allocating sources to Defense like a championship team would do.

I'm all for keeping Zeke but i'm shopping him every offseason because RB's do not get better as they age.
Agreed and he dose not seem like a guy who will take care of his body the way it needs to be done to pro long his career

I've said it before, and I'll say it again.. The biggest mistake this team made last season was catering to Zeke with a new contract when they should have wrapped up Dak and been done with it.

If it gets done its going to be an expensive and ugly contract and the Jones family have only themselves to blame for letting it get to this point.

There were many not sold on Dam going into the season.

Have to disagree with Sharpe. There are two forms of the franchise tag, exclusive and non-exclusive.

If the Cowboys execute the exclusive franchise tag they would be guaranteeing Dak a one year contract for the average of the top five salaries at quarterback.

Additionally, the exclusive tag prevents Dak from negotiating with other teams. Win-win for Dallas.

i think if the jones are really sold on dak as they have stated several times then sign the guy and move on this will come back to haunt the team next season if they don't get this thing cleaned up

I think they're being serious on the years and so is Dak's team.
I believe Stevie wants this to be a 6-7 year deal so they can play with the cap and it all ends up being friendly with a rising cap and Dak's team wants a shorter deal so they can keep up with the market rate.
I do believe the Cowboys offer is generous, but degrading and Dak's team wants market and the ability to keep it at market.

I love Sharpe he keeps "I love my QB" Skip in check. Who thinks if we tag Dak, who really thinks a team would give the boys 2 first round picks? Let's see a show of hands?

If Dallas franchises Dak, shouldn’t that sell the notion that the FO isn’t sold on him completely?

They franchised DLaw last year. Was it because they weren't sold on him or because they were buying time to negotiate?

A lot folks are reading what they want to believe into the tag but Jerry and Stephen have done/said nothing to suggest they're not sold on him.

At this point, I hope they tag him and some stupid team comes along and signs him so Dallas gets two 1st round picks from them. He was a 4th round pick and they got more than their money's worth out of that pick. Getting some high picks in return would be a very nice overall scenario and give them the ammunition to maneuver around in the next few drafts to get a young QB and have him under a rookie deal for 4-5 years. I'm ready to head down this path instead of overpaying a slightly better than average QB like he was a top 5 super bowl caliber QB.

It's becoming a league where a QB has 4-5 years to prove he's great or you move on and find another one. Investing a huge chunk of cap space on a QB only makes sense if that QB is championship caliber. "Good" isn't good enough for these huge contracts.

The one point about tagging Dak that made since was the fact that he would play to preserve himself from not getting hurt which would result (theoretically) in him not playing as well as if he had a contract. It's a business and if hes got a secured contract I could see him playing to win more than if he had to try to win while playing it safe in order to secure a long term deal.

Honestly, Sharp doesn't care. He stirs the pot as much as anybody, where the Cowboys are concerned. He's ragged on Dak every game except over this contract. When it comes to this contract, he wants Dak to get paid as much as he possibly can because he wants the Cowboys to be in cap strap.

Seriously, Sharp is not a friend to the Cowboys IMO

:hammer:......Nor is majority of the media in general. They all spew crap just to see if Jerry will take the bait...and he does more times than not.

It's rare when I agree with Shannon Sharpe when it comes to the Cowboys. So it's no surprise that I'm disagreeing with him again. Tagging Dak is going to happen. They will continue to negotiate a long-term deal after that but the tag is most certainly getting slapped on Dak so hard it might affect one of his excellent tattoos.

Shannon didn't lie once. Even said Dak was better than Goff or atleast same level so all that hes not a fan of Dak talk is weak. CZ never did like straight to the point talk. Yall like the behind your back, sneaky bs/coach talk.

I don't think so. Skip has acted like Shannon is getting the info straight from the source for awhile.I could be wrong but it sounds legit to me and by all means Dak hasn't signed so he couldn't be too far off. If Dak was willing to sign a team friendly deal i'm sure it would've been done.
Dak even said on the Dan Patrick show he bet on himself this year and "now here we are".
lol like going 8-8 and not performing in big games was validation for him betting on himself
.

Betting on a hand like that is what they call "a bluff".

I'm really hoping Dak will come down on his demand and that the Cowboys will come up.

That seems to be the most common way for disputed contracts to finally be arrived upon.

It's possible that the Cowboys just waited for the right time to break into their piggy bank.
