The point from my perspective is less about getting Davis, more about how hard it is to believe that a QB who doesn't even show up in most draft databases is going to be so coveted that it would come down to a money battle for him.
That's just not reasonable.
The better explanation is that the new coach was given latitude to make the call for the last pick, and he let his personal feelings for the kid, his family, and the coaches who have coached him in the Pittsburgh area make the decision for him.
Not complaining about it nearly so much as I'm just noticing that the situation walks and quacks like a duck, and that it's probably a duck. That's all.

Or, if the worst thing to happen this draft was letting the new coach use the last pick to appease some friends, then yes, you also know then that its been a good draft.
