Having had a groin tear myself I can testify that it is a tricky injury at best. You feel great practice well, and then suddenly you injure it again. Saying that the medical books say 4-5 weeks isn’t really a valid argument either. Everybody heals at different rates. Too many factors are involved to simply say he should have sat another 2 weeks. The severity of the tear etc.
I believe that Henry had a say in whether or not he played in the Detroit game. Obviously, there was some concern there or he would have started at his usual position instead of just coming in on the nickel. You can argue all day that BP rushed him back but the simple fact of the matter is you don’t know that he did for certain. The only two people who do would be Bill and Henry himself. I don’t see the point in criticizing someone for an “assumed action”!
I also don’t understand the critics who say we need to open up the game plan like we did against Philly. Correct me if I am wrong but we had a whole bunch of rushing yards in that game. If the run game is working, it opens up a whole bunch of options for the offense. The three runs at the 5 is the high percentage call. More often than not you will punch that in to the end zone rather than risk taking a sack or an INT. Everybody seems to want a run and gun offense but it isn’t doable with this personnel. The play calling while Vanilla at times is geared to the offensive strengths and the defenses’ reactions during the game. You can’t just wing it downfield every time. Certainly, Parcells prefers to control the game clock, but the percentage of passes has been 60% this year. You can’t really knock the play calling simply because every pass isn’t a 70 yd bomb to Glenn.
One last item to weigh in on is the failure last year to play Henson and Romo. Have any of you considered that neither one of them was ready to start? You can do a lot of damage to QB in this league of you just throw them to the wolves. While I certainly don’t consider myself to be anyone’s “homer”, I do respect the knowledge of the head coach and do not consider myself to know more than he does not only about the team and the personnel but football in general. Every one of us has made decisions that we later regret, why then do we hold Parcells accountable for every decision we do not understand? It doesn’t make any sense to me.
