Norm is doing his game review currently on the Ticket. he's opened it up to callers. this is what the very first caller says, and it stuns me that he was serious:

"hey norm, can we admit that DeMarcus Ware was a product of Greg Ellis? he did absolutely nothing out there, and Spears made the most plays on defense. Do we have another ROY WILLIAMS on our hands?"

i'm sorry....but WHAT!?

tell me there is no one else who could possibly share this opinion!

i wanted to jump through the radio and punch that guy in the head.

i'll admit i was disappointed in the defense in general, and i was anxiously awaiting Ware getting pressure, but
1) i think his stinger affected him just enough to hinder him at times.

2) i saw him getting doubled and chipped A LOT. that's where the other guys on defense need to make them pay.

LOL! I knew it. I knew there would be at least one moron out there who would go all crazy cause D-Ware didn't get a sack yesterday.

I think the caller into Norms show is a product of inbreeding

what has bothered me is that the cowboys had ware downfield covering on a pass play, Ware should be rushing the passer not in coverage.

Saw Donald Penn (who?) steering Ware to the outside fairly often and easily. Not sure why.

I was afraid something like this would happen if Ware didn't duplicate his 20 sack season again this year.

But, dang, I'm shocked that it has started already. Okay, I'm not shocked...it's more of a nauseating feeling in the pit of my stomach.

Just wait until he gets his new contract. We're going to see some incredible things written and posted.

I wasn't thrilled with that either. To his credit, Ware did break up a pass play in coverage.

Ware's speed rush around the edge works great when a QB is forced back or takes a deep drop to pass, when there's not much push and the QB can stand up closer to the line; not so much.
Tampa's o-line did a great job and didn't get worn down until later in the game.
To think that our guys were uninspired or forgot how to get pressure is pretty ********. (not directed at you btw)

i noticed that too, and it seemed like Ware was trying to use his usual speed rush a lot, and i wonder if that is partially due to the stinger he got earlier, where he didn't feel as confident using his arms to swim around the other way?

although last year against Tampa this same guy held Ware in check also, so he may just be a very lucky left tackle.

i think the big thing right now going against Ware is that except for Ratliff in the middle there is no one that opposing offenses are currently worried about.

now Spencer got really close a couple times and i think there is definitely potential there. so hopefully that will carry over and cause them to account for both sides. b/c Ware was chipped and doubled several times.

there was one time that i noticed, and i may have missed more, but i know i saw it once, where Ware & Spencer lined up together on one side. i would like to see more of that.

i think that was my main issue with the defensive calls yesterday is that i did not see Ware moved around enough. they would switch sides but that was all. unless you consider him dropping into coverage as "moving"...i don't...i call that giving the o-line a breather.

i was dying to see some twists and stunts or something.

hopefully we see more next week.

Also, when Ware is pushed past the pocket like that, Ratliff needs to make the O-line pay by forcing the QB back or straight squashing him. The sacks will come around. They've come on, literally, EVERY single defense that Wade Phillips has coached.
