LOL! I knew it. I knew there would be at least one moron out there who would go all crazy cause D-Ware didn't get a sack yesterday.

Do you remember the commercial when the Indian Man shed a single tear when standing in front of a bunch of garbage? That is me, every time I hear one of our idiotic fans spouting off in a mail bag or call in show. Some of these people should be bard from breeding and no I am not joking.

I will say this. Many of DeMarcus Ware's sacks last year came 5+ seconds after the snap. That would classify many of them as coverage sacks. That said, a sack is a sack and it takes a good motor to get lots of sacks period. Especially coverage sacks.

He is still one of the best defenders in the league bar none.

I'd be willing to bet the caller was TR1 from ExtremeSkins. He's been posting this crap for two years.

Norm is doing his game review currently on the Ticket. he's opened it up to callers. this is what the very first caller says, and it stuns me that he was serious:

"hey norm, can we admit that DeMarcus Ware was a product of Greg Ellis? he did absolutely nothing out there, and Spears made the most plays on defense. Do we have another ROY WILLIAMS on our hands?"

tell me there is no one else who could possibly share this opinion!

sounds like a typical CZ poster to me

Actually, I thought the "Ware is refusing to play hard until he gets a new contract" argument would surface first.

If he doesn't have a big game against the Giants, that claim will be made.

That or Jerry Jones shouldn't pay him.

You stole my thunder. I was going to use that argument. Why would he risk getting hurt without a new long term deal? It is a business after all. If he gets hurt right now, he gets much less.

I have to call it like I see it. Don't give too much credit to the Tampa O-line. Ware has been getting handled all preseason, and now week 1.

Even stupid people are allowed to use phones. :laugh2:

Many of calls he gets are very stupid comments and irrational thinking...no wonder he goes on rants a lot.

Also another call, said he thinks our defense is fine, but is worried about the offense, the running game especailly.

jerry pays guys when they are hurt, so that holds no water.

Yeah, nothing guarantees a large contract more than performing poorly in the last year of your contract.

Last year's performance, which was outstanding, would be the basis for a new contract. Not this year's. I anticipated them getting a deal done in preseason. Ware and Jones probably anticipated the same. What I saw in Ware yesterday was the same I saw in preseason.

Again, if he gets hurt right now, his market value drops drastically. Yes, Jerry will continue to pay him, but he'll have a bargaining chip if Ware gets hurt before a new deal is agreed upon.

It is just business.

I wasn't thrilled with that either. To his credit, Ware did break up a pass play in coverage.

I'm no expert in the 3-4, but I do think the LB's have to drop back in coverage more than you think or would like them to.

Yes, just business. Perform poorly on purpose in the final year of your contract. That's just the type of attitude that would not only get you a huge contract but prevent the owner from just franchising you.

I think you may have missed my point. They are trying to get a deal done now. Not at the end of this year. It makes no sense to wait out this year and then sign a new deal, unless Ware doesn't want to be a Cowboy.

Each week is a risk without a new deal and guaranteed money. If he gets hurt, he gets much less.

Should have hung the call up and established some sort of baseline for caller IQ before answering the next call.

It's not me that is missing your point, it's you that is missing THE point. No matter how you slice it, playing poorly does nothing but lower the value of his contract during any sort of negotiation. Purposely playing poorly which affects the whole team will not only lower his contract but possibly incur franchising, which takes his contract which should make him the highest paid defensive player and turns it into only the average of the top 5 at his position.

Well, you saw the threads here all week predicting two, three and four sacks against them. All along nobody wanted to acknowledge that Donald Penn played pretty well against him last year too. Sometimes that happens. I still remember when Strahan in his prime couldn't beat some converted defensive tackle we had on the line blocking him once.
