They liked him when he came out in the draft. The pick that year was Odrick or McCourty had we not traded up for Dez.

But that was a different coach, scheme, etc. Not sure how well he'd fit here.

We've been 4 for 5 in terms of picking pro bowlers in the 1st round and we've found some really sound picks in the late rounds. I'd trust our formula and sign a couple impact guys and this defense goes from average to pretty good in a hurry.

True. The draft is our ticket to success. I know Odrick has played both 4-3 and 3-4 and was very successful in both schemes.

Bills are a projected 12 million under the cap. The Williams signing hasnt exactly hampered them

Its hard to tell with the team they've constructed. They had Kyle Orton as their starting quarterback.

The Bills were just as close this year

Yeah but the difference is the Bills have the best defensive line in football, decent linebackers and a solid secondary. Texans have....JJ Watt lol. That's the type of impact I need for 100 million if its not a quarterback.

What happened when Albert Haynesworth got 100 million btw?

I'm sorry but I don't by the not having a QB thing. Texans don't have a QB and they were a game away from getting into the post season because of Watt. Don't get me wrong. He's a GREAT pass rusher but not 100 million dollars worth. Not with as many holes as the Bills have.

You realize the bills and texans had the same record right?

I have to say, .. that this is one of the best threads that I have seen on this board in a long time.

People sharing different points of view, backing them up with solid numbers, stats, and opinions without name-calling or tearing each others heads off.
Well done, it has been refreshing reading through this thread.

Congrats fella's , carry on.

How did he help Buffalo? They still suck as usual.

They didn't have a quarterback. Orton couldn't even beat out Tebow. If they had a quarterback, I believe the Bills could have made the playoffs. Their defense was very good and stopped the Packers high-powered offense.

Defensive should be good the 3 highest paid players on the team are all defensive players. DE Mario Williams, DT Kyle Williams and S Aaron Williams.

I don't agree with this. Romo should not be the driving factor here. Romo has maybe two season left and then he might be gone. Basing decision on Romo is not wise IMO. I am not in favor of win at all costs now. We have too good a team for that. Spending on a guy like Suh could be smart in the long term but lets say it was Murray and a 9 Million contract, that would not be wise IMO, even though you could use the same kind of justification there. Suh makes sense because of the scheme, the player production and his age but Romo has nothing to do with it IMO. We could easily be a very good team without Romo. When Tony retires, we could get a very good QB for less then what Tony is making to play football. We should be making decisions based on what is good for the franchise long term. Jerry and the organization will have to make money long after Tony retires. The way to do that is to continue to win. It's not to go broke for a year or two that may or may not net a championship and be terrible for 15 years, like we did after employing the same kind of strategy for Troy.

It's an era of free agency. But now I'm just raging cause we lost Callahan to the Commanders.

LOL, ... guess I spoke too soon.

HaHa

Was going to offer a better reply but you gave me too good an opportunity.

But seriously was he joking? Says Williams wasn't worth it because the Bills haven't made the playoffs.

Then turns around and praises JJ Watt for leading the Texans to ALMOST making the playoffs.

The Bills and Texans had the exact same record. LOL

If we can add him then go for it. He's a very disruptive force in the trenches and he would improve that area by a wide margin.

I am asking because I really don't know, ... but is it that bad?

He's the architect of this line. Garrett brought Houck here, and Houck used a power-blocking scheme that relied on big, hefty lineman. Martin, Frederick and Leary are under Bill's watch. He's the architect of the run blocking schemes that got Murray his yardage.

Callahan didn't have control of our passing game.
