Technology is much better these days. I had my appendectomy in 1967 at the age of 9.

I was living on an island, Crete, off the coast of Greece where there was no hospital. They had to fly me by emergency jet to a military base hospital in Turkey. I have a scar from my belly button to my waste. I was in bed for a week and couldn't stand up straight for another week.

.....and McCarthy will be back to work this weekend.

I could wish him a speedy recovery, but he's probably already halfway there.

I had laparoscopic surgery to drive my gallbladder. Had the surgery on a Monday and played in a band at a bar on Saturday. H’ell be good. Won’t be there for practice probably. I’m sure the game plan is already in place.

He is currently slated for surgery this afternoon, expected to be released later today, and anticipates coaching on Sunday night.

That is an aggressive recovery prediction. I know it's scoped, but jeeze. Watch out for those opioid reactions.
As much as we need him, I cannot imagine a doctor saying he will be good to go by then - best recover is one to two weeks, and that is with careful activity.

Some of these surgeons are amazing. In '07 I was in Washington DC on vacation and had to have mine removed. I toured the Air & Space Museum the next day.

As serious as apendicitis. Some walking some wheelchair. My wife is a former surgical nurse and she couldn't believe what I was able to do the next day.
