Updated: ***Cowboys Players Official Cut List***

Some of the guys everyone is freaking out over most likely make it to the Patrice squad and some will never do a thing in the NFL.

Deep Deep breath and lets see what happens

I had a feeling this would happen last week. Holmes' size will buy him another year to figure it out. It comes down who the team feels they can safely get on the practice squad.

i'm not convinced holmes has made the roster either.

maybe they only go with 5 wr, or they may bring in a veteran after the cuts.

Or that's what Jerry wants you to believe.
Garrett's putting together a roster; Jerry's hunting for that glory hole. LOL

It's kinda amazing Coale is this effortless natural receiver while Holmes is nothing but a stiff, but yet Holmes outproduced Coale head to head the last two weeks as a receiver.

This. We cut a great route runner. I didn't think Holmes showed that much.

Danny Coale walks on water and feeds the hungry. Unfortunately, that couldnt keep him healthy but for 2 weeks out of the last 4+ months.

Nor could it keep him from only putting up 2 receptions for a combined 21 yards in the two preseason games he played in.

Holmes put up better production that that with one catch last night.

Yep, Holmes could make it, then get released as soon as the Cowboys see a vet they like on the cut list.

I have a couple of conflicting thoughts here.

First, the scouting department, and particularly the pro-personnel department, has certainly earned the benefit of the doubt, particularly since Garrett took over. It seems like everyone they've brought in (Fiametta, Robinson) has worked out, and everyone who's been let go (McCann, Choice) will never be missed.

Second, when I see Ben Bass' name on this list, and Jumpy Junior's name conspicuous by its absence, I think this team will not improve on 8-8 if we keep going to war with the same scrubs we went to war with last time. IMO, Coale is another Kevin Ogletree; they're both 'just a guy', but at least Coale still has some upside. I realize Ogletree made some plays this preseason, but he also had way too many balls bouncing off his hands and his chest. Its not the number of plays that matters, its number of plays per opportunity, or the ratio of good plays to bad plays.

Maybe Ogletree will prove me wrong, but he's already been given 3 or 4 chances, and he hasn't done it yet. I'm pretty sure Harris has passed him on the depth chart, I suspect Beasley will make more plays than Ogletree, and in about 8 games, I expect Holmes, or whoever else is on the Cowboys roster at that point, to pass him, too.

If he was healthy during all of training camp he would have done better.

On 105.3 The FAN, Mike Fisher said a Cowboys executive told him Orie Lemon is "probably out."

That's different from "out," like we've had with these other guys.

A good fried of mine went to college and ran track with holmes at hillard. Per him he is a nice guy.....but really not very smart, very little work ethic tied to amazing ability. If he could learn the playbook and actually play smart there might be something. But haven't we seen this before, Id rather have a less athletic person that's smart and plays with his heart.

I am almost on the floor laughing at the people screaming about a couple of scrubs being cut

Maybe. Or maybe he still would have still been outperformed by Timmy Benford. Either way, it's pure conjecture and he did nothing to prove he was deserving of a roster spot.

When McGee throws you the ball late every time you can't really produce. 2 passes 1 for a touchdown were broken up because of late throws.

He should have no problem going to the PS and making his way to the roster like Crayton did his rookie year.

Tim Benford had McGree throwing to him, and he outperformed Coale.

Beasley, Harris, and Olgtree made Coale expandable.

This. Getting worked up over a 5th or 6th receiver is hilarious. Chances are he wasn't going to play much anyway. Same can be said with guys like Lemon and Hamilton. If they make it to the practice squad good, if not oh well.

And you may be right. I believe they're enamored with his size/ability and will give him another season to put it all together. But as you said, if they're in a serious roster crunch or someone they really want is available, they may have to expose Holmes to waivers - if not now, maybe later during the season.
