Atkins sounds right, but without Dockery they'd be down to 7 o-lineman. Thinking Kenyon Coleman or Marcus Spears, but Coleman is a Rob Ryan guy and Spears had a good camp.

A Stephen McGee trade could be in the works here....or Felix Jones?

Dockery gives us 8 linemen no way we are dropping to 7 he has made the cut

According to this article at DC.com, it appears that WR Salim has been informed that he's history as well:

DC.com Writers Take Stab At Predicting Final 53-Man Roster
Posted 2 hours ago

IRVING, Texas – The Cowboys won’t be turning in their final cuts to the NFL until 8 p.m. (CDT) Friday. But considering this is already a game-week and the team needs to formulate their practice squad and prepare for the defending-champion Giants before Saturday’s first practice, it’s all but certain these decisions have already been made.

In fact, certain players have already been tweeting on their personal accounts that they’re no longer with the team, and other reports have come out announcing certain cuts, according to sources.

Through both avenues, it appears the Cowboys have informed the following players they will be released: QB Rudy Carpenter, DE Clifton Geathers, FB Shaun Chapas, OLB Adrian Hamilton, WR Danny Coale, OL Pat McQuistan, OL Ronald Leary, OL Harland Gunn, DE Ben Bass and WR Saalim Hakim.

The Cowboys have to cut 22 players by Friday night and then will hope to re-sign eight to the practice by the start of Saturday’s 11 a.m. practice.

Calm down guys. Cutting some of these players TODAY that the Cowboys want back on the practice squad was a very smart move. Twenty-six of the thirty-two teams play tonight. Those teams are busy evaluating their own players and trying to decide who to keep, who to cut, and who to try to get on their own practice squads. By cutting some of our players today, the rest of the league has very little time to try to sign some of them. Good move on our part.

hope the last 4 are olawale, aoa, teddy williams and atkins

carrying 6 rb's epitomises dumbness

Just an adendum to my post above. When are our cuts made today "official"? If they're not considered official today, the point of my post is probably moot. I would assume the 24 hour period begins when the players are officially cut.

Looks like a nightmare scenario to me. Cutting Hamilton and keeping Atkins (so far) and Connor. And not one RB cut. Are they trying to squeeze a 7th rd pick or some player out of some team for Dunbar and Olawale?

Cutting Coale made no little sense to me while keeping McGee on the roster (for the time being).

I'm really disappointed with the Hamilton cut most. He showed a lot of potential.

I thought the official NFL cut time was noon Friday; that is when the 24 hour period starts. It is one time for all teams- so no one gets an edge

I think it's 8:00pm tomorrow that's the deadline.

My understanding is that the cuts are not official until the Cowboys turn the official list into the league office, which they are not required to do until tomorrow evening (8 CST, I believe). Regardless of when they turn the list in, though, they can't sign players to their practice squad until after 11 am on Saturday.

AS I understand, they have not officially been submitted to NFL offices, so they don't go on the clock until tomorrow afternoon or early evening. I think I heard Garrett say by 11AM or 12 Noon Saturday the players left would be available to the team.

Just a thought here...other teams are going to be making cuts, too, and I'm sure the Cowboys have their eyes on a few players. Not saying another Laurent Robinson is out there....but you never know.

There will be many Laurent Robinson's out there. It was Romo that made him a player last year and he could so the same for just about any WR that would come in and simply learn the playbook and run the correct routes.

Mike Fisher 105.3 The Fan was back on tonight, had Cowboys source saying McGee is likely gone. (7:20 p.m. tonight)

This has been an ABC Special Report. Back to regular programming.

Yeah, listening to it now. I just heard him saying that he's reporting what he's heard is that McGee is on the way out.

Can someone summarize the cuts so far? I don't want to read through 495 posts.. :)

O.K., but the fact that 26 of the teams are playing tonight still gives them less of an opportunity to evaluate our cuts. They're still busy evaluating their own bubble players.

Go to the first post in this thread.

Thanks man. Some surprises there... Hamilton, Lemon, Coale... non of them make it to the practice squad. I don't get those cuts at all.
