Myers has been fired by the Jacksonville Jaguars, less than a year into his coaching tinder. NFL Networks own Ian Rapoport reported the early this morning.

,,, hilarious. Think back to much of the media laughing and ripping Arizona for hiring Kingsbury from Texas Tech and then they laud and praise Jacksonville for hiring Myers. Queue the sad Price Is Right music.

That is sooo hilarious. I know this is unrelated, but Jimmy Johnson and what he accomplished jumping from college to the NFL just can't be respected enough.

Urban Myer is a recruiter, teacher, and motivator of 18-19 year old kids. He's really good at it and one of the best ever in college. But its a rare coach who can transition that skillset to the NFL.

He might have had success with a better roster/organization. I'm not sure he would have worked well with Jerry, though. His next best move is to fade to black.

Never did. Can’t believe all the media hype this guy brought to the table.

Well, he's pretty much on the Mount Rushmore of college coaches so media hype was no surprise at all. Most expected him to fail b/c most great college coaches fail in the NFL. The list of men who succeeded in doing both well is Pete Carrol and Jimmy Johnson.

He'll be the next head coach at UT if Sark has another bad year.

Seeing a great college coach like Urban Meyer fail in the NFL just makes me appreciate what Jimmy Johnson was able to accomplish with the Cowboys.

That is a short list of successful college coaches making it in the NFL. Saint Nick won’t make that mistake again. He is happy being the King in Alabama.

Do you know the back story of Saban at Miami? Its pretty interesting. He wasn't fired. He went 9-7 and just needed a QB. So, he landed Drew Brees who at the time had the shoulder issue which is why SD drafted Phillip Rivers. So, Drew gets to Miami and the team doctor failed him on the physical and the Dolphins owner refused to sign him b/c of it. Saban got super frustrated and just left........ in his own words. Point being things could have gone a lot differently Saban and Miami.

“Look when the Miami Dolphins were going to sign Drew Brees," Saban said, according to 247Sports.com. "Drew was coming to Miami when I was the coach there. He was going to be the quarterback. That’s all we needed. We just went 9-7 and all we needed was a quarterback to be a playoff team.

"We were going to sign Drew Brees as a free agent. Dr. (James) Andrews operated on him and I went to Birmingham to see Dr. Andrews, and he said it’ll be fine. Our doctors failed him on the physical. (Drew) was there to sign with us. I actually made a deal with his agent that he wouldn’t tell anybody for 72 hours he failed his physical until New Orleans signed him. That’s how he ended up in New Orleans.

Good for the jags. What a total waste. Definitely not to late for Lawrence. Will have another early pick. Who would be a good coach for them?

I saw a special on Saban, forget if it was NFL Network or ESPN. They talked about that and how it really changed his mindset about coaching in the NFL. It also talked about how his family wasn’t really happy with the atmosphere of the entire NFL and felt Nick’s real talent was coaching young men in college.

Not fair. They didn't even give him a full season and at least a part of a second one to turn it around. It's absolute BS when they fire a coach for losing with a previously losing team after 1 season or less. A coach should get a minimum two years, (usually they get three) to turn around the trajectory of a losing franchise.

He didn't get fired for losing, but for a collection of off the field and coaching behaviors which is completely unacceptable, immature and unprofessional for an NFL coach, especially one of this age to act like. How can the NFL or any one of their franchises expect and demand the players to act or behave in a certain respectable, mature and civil manner and yet have head coaches like Meyer have the free reign to go around and act out like he had been reported to have act out, without consequences?

He also kicked a kicker. That goes beyond just the normal actions of coaches holding a player accountable for the mistakes or mishaps they make during a game or practice. Urban Meyer stepped over the line and assaulted one of his players and it seems like his time in college gave him the entitlement to believe that his coaching status should allow him physically assault players without anything happening to him. But, he had to get fired, because he as a grown man shouldn't expect that he could get to physically assault grown men players on his team and then not expect that one of those players was going to hit him back or get physically violent with him in return.

If a grown man kicked another grown man on the street, then he is opening himself up to getting clocked in return. So why should Meyer be allowed to be physically hostile towards his players, verbally abusive towards his staff and be able to keep his job?
