I feel like the true badge of shame around here should go to the people who wanted Urban Meyer to get hired here

At some point, Shad Khan needs to recognize he is completely horrible at making football decisions. Even worse than Jerry.

If he is fired for cause, the Jaguars would not be on the hook for his gargantuan buyout number
if that verbiage was included in his contract. Dallas Cowboys offensive coordinator
Kellen Moore has already been reported as a potential replacement.

That would be a terrible choice, IMO. They need someone to change the culture, Kellen aint that guy.

I can't believe I'm about to say this, but they should look at Garrett.

I can almost guarantee there was some fear of employment lawsuits that led to the immediate firing. I wouldn’t be surprised if this was part of a back door settlement.

and once again Ill ask... how is it that posts that have zero to do with the Cowboys are allowed in here on some occasions, but on others it is quickly deleted or moved?????? I guess it depends on who the poster is.

wow
way to soon. Opposite of Jerry waiting 10 years for Garrett this was to soon. He should have had 2 maybe 3 years before making a change.

I still think a guy like Eric Bieniemy thrives here with a young QB

Not fair. They didn't even give him a full season and at least a part of a second one to turn it around. It's absolute BS when they fire a coach for losing with a previously losing team after 1 season or less. A coach should get a minimum two years, (usually they get three) to turn around the trajectory of a losing franchise.

He was nt fired for the team performance, for his extra curricular acts. , LOL

He wasn't fired for losing.

I can tell you that during his time with Utah, players and everyone loved him and he didn’t act like a jerk. He was younger and proving himself.

However, once he started winning championships with Florida and making massive bucks, he started believing that he was the greatest coach in history and infallible.
Power corrupts; absolute power corrupts absolutely. Basically what Meyer did in
Jacksonville and perhaps other places in his stops.

Its a hard transition going from dealing with kids on a college campus to pro athletes.

"Meyer’s biggest issues came off the field, where he tried to handle a professional team like he was on a college campus.

He splashed slogans and catchphrases around the facility, instilled gimmicks in practice, and repeated his misguided belief that coaches coach for players and players play for coaches. He brought in motivational speakers and kept blaming assistants for the team's mounting losses instead of the grown men actually on the field.
"
Lou Holz was a pretty good motivator of young men at the college level and had success their throughout his tenure. But as coach of the NY Jets he wasn't so good. His rah-rah college level antics did not play nice with grown men whom probably called him Lou instead of Coach Holz. But Meyer takes the cake and may have set back college coaching hires as NFL head coaches for a long, long time.

The media started bashing Meyer on day one. They really poured it on when Tebow was signed. There is no doubt that Meyer can coach football, but he never stood a chance.

I remember that very well. I think the Lou Holtz's and Urban Meyers are dinosaurs. That era of coach is over. Even at the college level, you won't see much of it anymore b/c of NIL money. The prima donna player is going to get younger and younger. They are all about themselves and their brand rather than their team and coach. Its just the new reality and is the main reason I don't root for players. I root for the uniform. I don't care whose QB or Rb........ these aren't Landry's cowboys...........although this Parsons kid is making me a fan......he's a throwback type player.

That style of coaching is old. Getting to Micah Parsons, he is a big deal. Hope his injuries don't affect him like it did the very good Sean Lee and that after he signs that huge deal and I am being presumptuous here with the Cowboys he stays Micah and not some rock star diva. He is playing like a man on a mission.
