FRISCO, Texas — While contemplating the eventual need for a new team headquarters and practice facility, Dallas Cowboys executives wondered how they could possibly match the standard they set with sparkling state-of-the-art AT&T Stadium.
The Star will ultimately cover 91 acres, include shopping, dining, athletic and hotel options and cost the Cowboys $1.5 billion. Jones harbors hopes of one day bringing the NFL draft and perhaps the scouting combine here.
The Cowboys have partnered with the City of Frisco and the Frisco Independent School District to create what is expected to be the only training facility an NFL team shares with a public high school athletic program. It includes a 12,000-seat indoor stadium.
Charlotte Jones Anderson, Jones’ daughter and a team executive vice president, says the 40,500-square-foot plaza area will be where Town Center meets Times Square. They want The Star to reflect tradition, embrace community and incorporate the latest in athletic training.
A new sports medicine facility, the Baylor Scott & White Sports Therapy & Research at The Star, will feature cutting-edge technology when it opens sometime next year.
