usa just can't play football, I mean who cares about playing against them ? Just look how slow they played during the match, boring as hell ! They surely beat everyone at baseball (but who else plays baseball anyway ?) but real football... they'd need centuries to reach the European level.

People are all over the net trashing America because of this.

Calling our athletes roided freaks and stuff lol.

If America wins the house will be brought down. Lets go Freddy Adu! lol

I'll probably watch about 5 soccer matches in my life. This will be one of them. :D

USA! USA!! USA!!!

freddy adu hasn't kicked a ball the whole tournament as far as i know? was a bit disapointed to see you get so far as going into the third game i didn't see you getting the 6 goal swing you needed so was rooting for egypt then in the semis i wanted to see a brazil spain final. fair play to you though you got the results when it mattered and i think you probably deserved it after how well you played for an hour and how unlucky you were against italy. not bothered who wins tonight just hoping its a good game but all the best

USA! USA!! USA!!!

i quite often watch that many in a weekend lol

It would be nice if we pull out a victory...talk about a major upset..

Soccer sucks.

In Europe its neo-nationalism, in America its stuck between hockey and poker.

Go USA! One more win to go from virtually eliminated to glory!

USA vs Brazil Preview Confederation Cup 28/06/2009

USA once again shocked the football world by ending Spain’s 15-match winning run and they thus qualified for the Confederations Cup final. Brazil, on the other hand, had a lot of problems against South Africa but they still managed to win and are now hot favourites in this match.

USA shocked Spain

USA came to this tournament as underdogs and they did nothing to defy the prediction in the first two group games, having lost to both Italy and Brazil, conceding six goals in the process. But they picked up themselves when nobody expected and hammered Egypt 3:0 to clinch a semi-final berth. That was an excellent performance from Bob Bradley’s side but they were still thought to be major underdogs in the semi-final clash with Spain, since La Furia Roja entered the match on the back of 15-match winning run. Bob Bradley knew that his team needed to stop Spain’s midfield if they were to have any chance of pulling off a surprise, and that is precisely what they did. Spain did have the upper hand during the match and they missed a couple of very good chances but USA punished them on the break and they thus made it to the final. Bob Bradley is likely to adopt the same approach against Brazil and his team will be mostly concentrated on defence. We don’t think that they will be able to hurt Brazil on the break since only three or four players will be going forward, but on the other hand, Selecao will have problems unlocking their packed defence.

Brazil to learn from Spain’s mistakes

Brazil came to this tournament in high spirits after the good performances in the World Cup qualifying campaign and they benefited from that a great deal. Carlos Dunga’s team played extremely well in the three group games and even though they struggled a bit in the opening game against Egypt, Selecao proved they were in great form. The boss boosted his squad with a couple of new players like Ramires and Andre Santos, who did a great job when called upon and this fresh blood revitalized the team. After finishing top of their group with maximum number of points, they were pitted against hosts South Africa in the semis. Brazil were seen as hot favourites but they struggled to break the hosts even though South Africa did not adopt defensive approach. That match showed that the players were tired after the long season and they will definitely not have an easy job against USA, since the Americans will defend in numbers. Dunga is unlikely to make too many changes to the starting line-up, although Dani Alves, who scored the winner against South Africa, could start for Maicon.

Betting verdict

Brazil are the favourites in this final game but nobody can afford to underestimate USA, not after they beat Spain. Bob Bradley’s team will defend in numbers and will not be looking to go forward too much, while Brazil will struggle to break them. Therefore, our advice is to bet on under 2.5 goals.

I've made my opinion about the game of Soccer clearly known in the past, and it falls along Creed's thoughts.....................

However, I've voiced my disdain and lack of interest when Soccer gets inserted into a Football thread where it doesn't belong. I teat is as a "live and let live" thing, UNLESS some fool brings it up in an effort to criticize our game of REAL Football. Then, I let loose and go off on Soccer.

In this instance, the OP opened up a Soccer thread in the correct forum. It's still a decent sport and worthy of conversation and our attention. Especially because of what the U.S. team has accomplished and is doing. As long as we're talking soccer for "soccer's sake" than I'm all for it (my kids play soccer of course, like every kid seems too).

I'm also drawn to the derogatory remarks listed above by soccer-folks from other countries about the U.S. team and style of play. Out of on side of their mouths, all we hear is about how "America doesn't get it, is behind the curve, is the oddball" for not going all ga-ga over soccer. Now, when we're showing our learning curve and appear competitive, they don't like THAT either. In THAT regard, I agree with your comment about "Euro-egocentricity" or whatever. The LAST THING they want is for the U.S. to embrace soccer. Because if we ever do, we'll slap the bejesus out of all of them, and then they'll have another problem with the U.S. (as if they need any more). It's classic "damned if we do, damned if we don't" stuff.......

I'm gonna' watch this match with my kids, because they play the game and like it. I like the game OK enough, except when the bring it up in a Football conversation and try to compare soccer to our game. That's when my fangs come out about soccer.

But there's no need for the "soccer sucks" stuff in this thread, because that's what the threads about. It's a legitimate subject in the proper place.

GO U.S.A.!!!!

Hey, ya never know... that is the beauty of sports

Just a question but whats up with the crowd buzzing?

Are they tryin to sound like bugs or something?

First soccer game I'll have watched since the last World Cup. Hope it's a good one.

As a neutral fan I usually support Brazil in games with them in, because they normally play exciting Football.

But for tonight, I'm happy to sit on the fence & wish both teams all the best, the thing I hope for most is that the US give them a good game.

For the US to win I do think they have to defend well, and try & nick a goal on the break and then play counter attacking football.

My heart can barely handle the Cowboys. This stuff is killing me...

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAALLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! USA LEADS BY 2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
