I hate how the US seems to get hosed in World Cup matches.....what frustrates me is the fact the refs hose us even when they dont really have to. We aren't exactly a top power in soccer, but for some reason, come the WC, the officials find ways to cheat us...and I mean obvious bad calls.

Today is another example of the officiating being against us in a huge way. At least Sweden beat us fair and square. Brazil has cheated and used cheap tactics.....I have no respect for the officials or Brazil.

If Brazil wins, I will be rooting for Sweden.

Well, people inside circles say that it's fairly common knowledge that the USA is the only program that doesn't bribe FIFA officials for hosting or for anything else.

Our women's team IS a top power in soccer, though. Men? Nah. They're garbage.

That Wambach goal was a thing of beauty. Rapinoe should be in the starting lineup next game. Her crosses were great when she was in there.

Gotta disagree about Rapinoe...I thought she was terrible for the first 30 minutes she was out there. Played much better later on though. She had an off game....but made up for it with that cross to Wambach....can't do it any better than that.

IMO, if given only one, I'd take Cheney over Rapinoe....but I liked it when we started both.

Those girls are incredible. They are unbelievable. As good a game as I've ever seen in any sport. Our girls are just so much more then our men are in this sport.

Women's Soccer is surprisingly entertaining. I'm loving it.

IMO, if given only one, I'd take Cheney over Rapinoe....but I liked it when we started both.

I liked Cheney too... she was all over the field. O'Reilly was invisible out there for the most part. Rapinoe seemed a little slow but I think she also had that cross on the near miss on Lloyd's header. She's probably just a better offensive midfielder than defensive.

The crowd recognized when a player, Marta was being a POS. She whined and complained about everything. Great player, but poor attitude. She could have and should have been dealt with by the official.

First off - WOW what a game - incredible win for us.

As for your quote - I def agree. The women obviously aren't as strong or fast as the mens so its a bit slower, but they have a great knowledge of the game.

You can see it in their passes and the way they approach the game, its pleasant to watch.

BTW I think I love Hope Solo ; )

That's what I'm saying...they're just very disciplined and it seems like they play harder. I think they're just better coached though...they play very well as a team, whereas with the men's team they try to run iso with Landon Donovan and he isn't even the most athletic guy on the team let alone the world. I honestly think Marta would run circles around Donovan.

And Hope Solo? I don't think so - I love her.

As to Donavan - I don't know, IMO he's the only truly great US player, the guy can kick with both feet, he can shoot and gives some nice feeds - he's the most technically sound player we got.

If we had a couple of more Donavans we'd be in good shape. It always seems like we have that one great player and that it - I remember when Tab Ramos was our best, then I think it was Claudio Reyna and now Donavan.

Thats where we'r not up to the top counties - the technical side/the individual skill side.

Most womens sports are still more that the players love the game; the money in mens sports have ruined most of them. None of these women are going to make millions of dollars a year in the future; and that is a HUGE difference.

Morgan came in late in the game after both teams were exhausted...so she was going against tired Brazilians...so she better have looked good.

I was flipping channels and they showed Germany getting beat; they were very confident they were going to win their third one; and they laid a big egg. This is in Germany and the crowd was sitting there with their mouths open as the game ended. Japan knocked them off.

I loved it.
