Great result and by the sounds of things high drama which is always good to see.
Personally I just can't get into womens football at all but as I think it was burm said earlier they're playing more for the love of the game than the money like the men so it definitely has that going for it. One thing that did amuse me was the mention of how Messi would never have made it if he was American. Reminded me of something former Scotland international Billy Stark said when he was appointed head of Youth Development here. He was talking about changing the culture of football at ages up to 16-17 from currently win at all costs. He stated that this led to coaches putting out technically inferior players who happened to physically develop earlier than guys who had more talent as they were more effective in the short term. To get his point across he used the example of Barcelona's midfield duo of Xavi and Iniesta who despite being two of the best on the planet he reckoned would never have been given a break in Scotland as coaches would have looked to put big powerful guys like Lee McCulloch in the middle of the park. Guess its not just us that have a lot to learn.
As an aside I can hardly wait for Saturday and getting back to some proper football. I say proper but its only a pre season friendly against a first division side and the first team are in Australia so its a Celtic XI which will probably be mostly youth players with a couple of fringe guys thrown in. We have signed a young Kenyan boy though so hoping he gets a run out and we've got a new goalie on trial as well. Its been a long time since the 15th of May though so it'll do!!!
