USC will be back. They are head and shoulders above anyone else in that conference and it is a temporary setback.

They will lose out on some blue chippers and money but once the penalties are over, I believe they will back.

Heck, they probably have so much talent compared to the other schools, that in the Regular Season, there is not much dropoff in the win/loss column.

Uh no, Texas and OU are now coming to the Pac-10. USC was not at the top of the Pac-10 last year and Oregon looked to be the team to beat in the Pac-10 this year until Masoli got into trouble. It's going to be a tough road ahead for SC.

We don't know what Texas and OU are going to do at this point.

Not sure about Dickerson ability to read and write but I do know Craig James very well and he is no dummy.

Kidding. That's an old line from back in the day.

UCLA is also coming on. In another Couple years, I think UCLA is a top 20 team again.

Yep, not to mention that a lot of the newest recruits will likely be out of there now.

I do think, in all this talk the last few weeks, it's striking how people act like the teams that have been powers the last several years will always be powers. When I was a kid, USC and Texas both were completely mediocre programs. That can and will happen again sometime down the road, and for USC it might start now.

The Pac-10 announced Thursday that the University of Colorado has agreed to leave the Big 12 to join its conference.

Nebraska is also poised to announce its move from the conference to the Big Ten.

Texas and Texas A&M officials were to meet Thursday at an undisclosed location to discuss the future of their athletic programs and the Big 12 amid speculation the league could be raided by rival conferences and broken apart.

Texas athletic director DeLoss Dodds has said he wants to keep the Big 12 together.

Baylor and Texas Tech officials have said that even if the Big 12 breaks apart, they want to remain with Texas and Texas A&M as members of the same conference.

A Big 12 football coach, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, told ESPN.com's Mark Schlabach on Wednesday night that if Nebraska left the Big 12 the conference would dissolve, according to his athletics director and university president. The coach said Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and Colorado would join the Pac-10, leaving Baylor, Kansas, Kansas State, Missouri and Iowa State behind.

The coach said the Pac-10 favored Colorado over Baylor because of the Buffaloes' presence in the Denver TV market.

"Nebraska is the key," the coach said.

A source close to the Nebraska program told ESPN's Chris Mortensen that athletic director Tom Osborne informed some staff members within the past 24 hours the Cornhuskers were going to make the move to the Big Ten.

A source with knowledge of the Big Ten's plans confirmed to ESPN.com's Adam Rittenberg that Nebraska will join the Big Ten by the end of this week or early next week. The source said the formal process of accepting a candidate either has started or would be under way shortly, as Nebraska must formally apply for admission to the Big Ten.

"It's going to happen, unless something crazy happens in the final hours," the source said. "I think by this weekend, it's going to be wrapped up."

Besides Nebraska, no other candidates are imminent for the Big Ten, which could stay put with 12 members, the source said.

USC got off very lite on this deal.

I do wonder if Henderson will decommit. I think he had that in his commitment letter. If SC gets caught, he is free of his letter. If he does decommit, there is a very good chance he will end up at Texas. He was considering Texas right at the very end. Could be interesting.

I hope he's doesn't and is stuck there.

Serve him right.

Glad this thing finally got settled. For a while there I thought they were going to just sweep the Bush incident under the rug.

Also, leading up to today's announcement, Pete Carroll has been doing interviews claiming he'd be shocked if USC were punished.

He knew Bush was guilty; that's why he got the hell out of there before the hammer dropped.

Coward.

Last I heard it would be 10 schollies lost per year for 3 years. That will hurt their depth.

No one got it as bad as SMU and the NCAA death penalty they were handed.

And they never recovered. They did get what they deserved though, IIRC they were warned and still continued to pay players.

I was thinking and I realized that none of the skill position guys from USC have made it big in the pros. None of the WRs; White is pretty much gone; Bush is OK and no more; Leinart is still trying to make it as a starter. Actually has anyone from the 2004-2005 USC team been to the Pro Bowl?

Wouldn't USC have to forfeit the national championship game vs. OU? Why wouldn't OU have a valid claim as national champion then?

It just doesn't work that way. Plus Auburn went undefeated that season as well.

I say they round up Jason Campbell, Cadillac Williams, Jason White, Adrian Peterson, etc. and have them play for the title. :)

Cheating *******s got off light IMO. In any case I will be enjoying listening to the whining coming from "Figueroa Tech" and their bandwagon fan base.

This is devastating for the university. They can sugar coat it all they want. No one is going to want to commit to a school that's working through these issues.
