LVE is instinctive but slow. He is what we call a LIABILITY.

He’ll be missed for his brain but his physical skills leave a lot to be desired. I think we can make up for his one play per game.

He is just sick. He is probably going to play Sunday.

He's been decent at best, especially when in space and off ball coverage
But he has issues physically head on and finding the proper run gaps and vs traffic.

'Solid' would mean you'd have no problem with him returning as a starter.
Not me, we need to have an upgrade here.
Quinn recently compared him to Armstrong, said both are very consistent, always in the right place. I agree he struggles with getting through the trash, but he has played better as the season progressed.

He didn't look slow when chased down one of the fastest RBs in the league last week, and made a nice open field tackle, keeping him from a first down, and possibly a long TD run.

LVE will not be missed, making tackles 8-10 yards deep just means he made a lot of tackles. So don't bring in the number of tackles a guy makes. They should be made at the line of scrimmage or within a couple of yards. I was a fan of LVE early on, but not that much lately.
While I agree that LVE does make most of his tackles down field. I would argue that “lately” he has been less adverse to contact and has made more tackles at the LOS. He stuffed the Vikings RB in the hole and dove over the line to tackle the Giants quarterback. Which were both a surprise to me. There have been several other tackles he’s made for a minima gain. He does seem more aggressive recently.

He's the QB of the defense...makes calls and adjustments....amateurs don't appreciate what he brings.

Rest everyone. Only games that matter are vs Eagles. Can’t beat them this year? Stay home.

He’s not the greatest LB ever but I will say he’s been healthy for two years straight which is amazing. Gives me hope for Damone that once they do that neck surgery it’s fixed.

unlike Clark, he is always chasing guys down because he's slow to diagnose the back coming from the backfield. I have yet to see him covering the rb like Clark will.

Damone is 10 times the linebacker LVE is. He diagnoses plays faster and covers his man.

LVE makes an occasional play but its usually HIM chasing after he's been beaten. Clark makes plays routinely.

Well, he was the only one who diagnosed the play I mentioned, and the only one who gave himself any chance to stop it. Not only did he probably save a long TD run, but he forced a punt, and he ran from about 2/3 of the way across the field to do it. He can definitely be upgraded, but he's not a weak link...at least not this season.

I see a role for him. In obvious run downs. I agree. He's not a weak link. He's just a run stuffer. Thats his thing. I prefer Clark in there on passing downs. He's more athletic and quicker to the ball.

Quinn recently compared him to Armstrong, said both are very consistent, always in the right place. I agree he struggles with getting through the trash, but he has played better as the season progressed.

His two big weaknesses. 1. Diagnosing the gap. 2. Stack and shed. He has the tools to be All Pro. I don't know if he has the drive or the tenacity - "bulldog mentality" to be that type of player consistently.

He has been good in space. Had good plays, but he puts in a some real head shaker plays. 2021 was one of his worst years IMO. 2022 is showing to be much better.

What is the difficult spot for me is he gives you Anthony Brown /Jeff Heath type value, some good plays, but some glaring weaknesses, but he was drafted 19th overall, and was highly ranked by all the draft pundits. ???

So to put it into real numbers for everyone. In every draft, dependent of compensatory picks, the NFL drafts about 255 players on average. LVE was ranked as the 3rd best LB in his class. He was considered 170 spots better than Anthony Brown. He was 250+ spots better than Jeff Heath who was an undrafted free agent.

In your opinion do you feel that LVE tilts the performance table anywhere from 170 to 250+ spots better than those two other players who are/were constantly ragged on by Cowboys fans?

Having players who are not performing to their draft expectation is not only the issue for the player themselves, but also the mgmt team that made the selection and the talent on the bench that can't unseat them.

Let's see what Clark and Cox can determine the decision on LVE in the offseason.

Has anyone on the Cowboys roster not had this illness? I'd like to think they all got it and are done with it now before the stretch run for the playoffs.
