whose gonna be the 3rd LB ?.. Gifford ?

We're already paper thin at LB,..
- i don't think they wanted to overload rookie Clarke with as many reps, ...
- Barr can injury prone.
- and they really do not like 2nd yr LB Jabrail Cox.
  • They only play 2 LBs together.
    • Starters = Clark & Barr
    • Parsons has been playing most snaps at DE except for the Packers game.
    • Not certain if the next in line is Jabril Cox or Gifford.
    • They could make Malik Jefferson one of the two PS players active for the game.

His two big weaknesses. 1. Diagnosing the gap. 2. Stack and shed. He has the tools to be All Pro. I don't know if he has the drive or the tenacity - "bulldog mentality" to be that type of player consistently.

He has been good in space. Had good plays, but he puts in a some real head shaker plays. 2021 was one of his worst years IMO. 2022 is showing to be much better.

What is the difficult spot for me is he gives you Anthony Brown /Jeff Heath type value, some good plays, but some glaring weaknesses, but he was drafted 19th overall, and was highly ranked by all the draft pundits. ???

So to put it into real numbers for everyone. In every draft, dependent of compensatory picks, the NFL drafts about 255 players on average. LVE was ranked as the 3rd best LB in his class. He was considered 170 spots better than Anthony Brown. He was 250+ spots better than Jeff Heath who was an undrafted free agent.

In your opinion do you feel that LVE tilts the performance table anywhere from 170 to 250+ spots better than those two other players who are/were constantly ragged on by Cowboys fans?

Having players who are not performing to their draft expectation is not only the issue for the player themselves, but also the mgmt team that made the selection and the talent on the bench that can't unseat them.

Let's see what Clark and Cox can determine the decision on LVE in the offseason.
Draft position means little once you enter the league. Yes, he was a 1st rounder who should have more pote

Couple of comments:

-Yes, Lve has become more of a role player then a star, but he is being paid as such, with just a 3 million contract. He is a quality role player.
-He struggled with availability due to a neck injury, but hasn't missed a start the last 2 seasons.
-Played like a legitimate pro bowl player as a rookie, but regressed after the injury.
-Just like last season, his play improved as the season has progressed, many feel he was the best defender against the 49ers in the playoffs.
-Jabril Cox, isn't part of the future discussion as the team views him in the role Kearse plays. Right now it's Clark and 2 veterans who are on their last year of their contracts. Believe Lve is held higher by the coaches then the fan base.

Hard to see LVE missing this game. Contract year with a rookie LB more suited to play the middle than LVE...he's playing. Besides, most guys came back fairly quick from that bug.

If what you are saying about Cox is true then linebacker might be drafted high again in the next draft.
