Landry didn't even get drafted in the first round so that means 12 picks made after ours didn't feel Landry was best player available either

I disagree. Dak is going to have no where to go with the ball at this rate. Look for teams to load the box , stuff the short throws, and give Zeke fits again b/c we have nobody on the outside they need to worry about.

I liked the pick just because I like the focus on defense. But, IMO, Dak will do just fine as-long as we can establish the run. He has enough ammunition to produce with the current talent, not to mention what will come in the later rounds.

He's a 6-4 256lb linebacker. Likely will end up c.270lbs in the pros - bigger than some DL players. I can see potential as a run stopper and a great foil for Barkley of the Giants.

However, the trend in the NFL is towards LBs with hybrid LB/SS skills - Jaylon is one. Smaller more mobile players who can cover slot receivers and pass catching speedy running backs.

I just dont see any 270lb player - no matter how great an athlete - being able to cover small speedy turn on a dime slots such as Edelman or RBs such as Kamara.

Can this guy play in the increasing number of situations where 2 x quick mobile LBs are needed? If so, he must be the greatest athlete of all time!

Well hes 247. Not 270...and last i looked Rolondo McClain was 6 4 255....Ray Lewis was 245, clay mathews 6 3 255, Jaylon is 6 3 245, just to name a few

But honestly, if the coaches would quit forcing him to be a pocket passer he would be better off. The kid needs to move out of the pocket. He is best when he is not forcing himself to stay in the pocket.

I remember when Garrett similarly forced Romo to stay in the pocket, while teams had been spending a lot of energy trying to keep him in the pocket because of how effective he was on rollouts. Funny, I remember Romo getting injured in the pocket, not on rollouts.

Of course Dak should be rolling out. One thing we saw in 2016 was how he was more accurate rolling out than in the pocket. He's really good at it.

It's mentally much simpler to be chased from one direction than to be surrounded by tacklers you're trying to avoid. Pocket presence is not Dak's strong suit. They should let him roll.

You guys keep parroting this but Hitch is nit a great long term starter at MLB. Letting him go is one of the smart things we did so we're not "trying to replace him"

We have a huge need at MLB because this FO did what it usually does, make a decision with its heart rather than its brain in taking a player who we had no business drafting at the top of rd 2

We just need to hope LVE turns out to be a great great MLB

one reason LB made sense....its not as deep as the WR class.
You could stretch it to the 4th or 5th if you wanted.
They wont....but you couldnt do that at LB.
I mocked Ridley to us at 19...and the LB options start to run thin.

He'll be our starting MIKE at some point. In the post draft presser, the Boys were comparing him to him to RoMac and love his size/length and ability to fill gaps in run lanes and cover in zone as well.

He may be MLB this year. Stephen Jones was saying Lee at WLB, Smith SLB and Vander Esch is MLB. Guess we will see how this plays out. Great thing is all 3 guys are willing to do whatever is asked of them by the coaching staff.
