Vaughan?

If Vaughan is deemed to be the 53rd best (or better) player on this roster, then sure. Otherwise, probably not.

I don't see Dallas carrying 3 QBs, and Vaughan isn't ready to be your #2. They're going to carry both Lawrence and Spencer on the 53. With the probability that both will be ready to play before they would if they were on PUP. That leaves 51 spots. Do the math

9 OL (3 G, 3 T, 2 C, + 1 "swing" OL)
4 RB (may include a FB---May not)
5 WR
3 TE
10 DL
6 LB
10 DB (5 CB, 5 S, or 6 & 4)
P
K
2 QB

That's 51 + Lawrence and Spencer = 53.

If it was my decision, Vaughan would not play another snap this preseason. There's enough good tape out there already that I don't see him clearing waIvers now.

You have 10 DL plus Lawrence and Spencer who are DL. That's 12, and there's no way we keep 12 DL. You must have meant 10 total DL which would then make room for a LS and 1 extra player.

there are not 10 DL here that currently warrant being on our Roster.

He looks worth keeping IMO.

If he could sharpen his game up then we may have something in 2 or 3 years.

First time I have ever watched him and he was impressive. Not just from a physical standpoint, his body language and composure.

If you compare him to other third string players that have been in Dallas in the past few years, it is clear he is significant step up.

Anytime you have a youngster at QB who shows great potential, it'd be a big mistake to put him at risk lingering on the P-squad.
If this kid continues to demonstrate the abilities that he has to this point, don't risk losing him. He may turn out to be a savior if given the time to develop. I'll be extremely upset if this young QB continues to shine and is foolishly put at risk of being stolen.

I hope he doesnt get the matt moore treatment ,he looked poised even though he playing behind some scrubs and he is tall and he can go through his progressions given some time.

There are enough stiffs on this roster. There's no reason why they can't let one of those go to retain a QB they think might have something.

This ^^

I'm very impressed with him, but mostly his poise. Almost reminds me of Flaco as he seems unflappable.

You can also just look at his face. The lights are on and he is confident. Big difference between how he looks versus other third string QBs in the recent past like Richard Bartel.

If Weeden has to play we getting a top 5 pick... Mariotta or Petty please.

Petty will be 24 during the draft, combine that with the offense he plays and I think he goes 2nd round regardless.

Do you think Vaughn can be our future QB to lead this team to a Superbowl? I don't think he can. I rather we draft a top QB to be the future. Kurt Warner is few and far in between

If you keep Vaughn, you have to go light at another position. Which spot?

I agree that there's no way they can stash him on the PS at this point.

We shouldn't, but I think the Cowboys will eventually cut him. I don't see us going thin on DL or the secondary.

Then, he'll get picked up by NYG and become the heir apparent to Eli in 3 years and come back to haunt us. That's usually how it goes, right?

Affording him a single roster spot to ensure getting someone with his potential wouldn't be a waste. The cost would be minimal. We have many candidates at other positions with far less potential than he has demonstrated, all of whom could go. He has the necessary composure, poise, delivery, arm strength and accuracy to qualify as a viable and qualified candidate to groom. Many others think the same. He's worth the minimal risk, imho.

I'm shocked at how many people roll their eyes at the thought of a player like this developing when our starting QB is Tony Romo.

Indeed.he doesn't have to be Romo, all he needs to be is an adequate backup for next year(anything more is a bonus).

Perhaps, but in the mean time he makes a lot of sense. He protects the practice squad this season, and develops quicker heading that as #3.

That he has good talent isn't in question...only if he deserves an actual slot. So, the team will intensely observe and rate over the next two games. They will be all important to this player.

But Tony Romo isn't going anywhere quickly, unless the 'great dispersion' is called. So, the need to develop further behind a still somewhat questionable Brandon Weedon at present. That or Orton is still on speed dial.
