I don't see Dallas carrying 3 QBs, and Vaughan isn't ready to be your #2. They're going to carry both Lawrence and Spencer on the 53. With the probability that both will be ready to play before they would if they were on PUP. That leaves 51 spots. Do the math
9 OL (3 G, 3 T, 2 C, + 1 "swing" OL)
4 RB (may include a FB---May not)
5 WR
3 TE
10 DL
6 LB
10 DB (5 CB, 5 S, or 6 & 4)
P
K
2 QB
That's 51 + Lawrence and Spencer = 53.
If it was my decision, Vaughan would not play another snap this preseason. There's enough good tape out there already that I don't see him clearing waIvers now.
He looks worth keeping IMO.
If he could sharpen his game up then we may have something in 2 or 3 years.
There are enough stiffs on this roster. There's no reason why they can't let one of those go to retain a QB they think might have something.
This ^^
I'm very impressed with him, but mostly his poise. Almost reminds me of Flaco as he seems unflappable.
We have a qb with a bum back and a qb that was sent packing from Cleveland....you're right nothing to worry about.
If Weeden has to play we getting a top 5 pick... Mariotta or Petty please.
Again what has Matt Moore done in this league to consider keeping Vaughn?
Didn't you see his earlier post. Apparently Matt Moore was the next Tony Romo until he got pressed into action too early.
Anytime you have a youngster at QB who shows great potential, it'd be a big mistake to put him at risk lingering on the P-squad.
If this kid continues to demonstrate the abilities that he has to this point, don't risk losing him. He may turn out to be a savior if given the time to develop. I'll be extremely upset if this young QB continues to shine and is foolishly put at risk of being stolen.
Do you think Vaughn can be our future QB to lead this team to a Superbowl? I don't think he can. I rather we draft a top QB to be the future. Kurt Warner is few and far in between
I'm shocked at how many people roll their eyes at the thought of a player like this developing when our starting QB is Tony Romo.
Indeed.he doesn't have to be Romo, all he needs to be is an adequate backup for next year(anything more is a bonus).
We shouldn't, but I think the Cowboys will eventually cut him. I don't see us going thin on DL or the secondary.
Then, he'll get picked up by NYG and become the heir apparent to Eli in 3 years and come back to haunt us. That's usually how it goes, right?
