While I know that it's hard to identify any rhyme or reason of this coaching staff, as far as personnel matters are concerned, I do not know what they can be seeing in Vaughan that could keep him off the 53. I know I shouldn't worry about decisions that are not in my hands but I am sitting here with my eyes wide open having nightmares of Matt Moore watching this kid play. Everyone in the Cowboy organization knew the kid could play and so did any GM that did his homework that preseason.

Think about it. If we had kept Moore there wouldn't have been Stephen McGee wasting a spot for three seasons. No 'is Orton gonna play'? No useless Orton money clogging up the books. And now I find myself not even paying attention when Hanie is under center (just a waste of time and money) taking snaps from this kid.

I do understand we will probably go a little heavy number wise on defense, especially on the D-line and at CB after the Scandrick suspension, but a spot should be made for this kid. Sorry if I'm rambling. I'm a little drunk and I had to get this rant out of myself just so I can sleep.

At this point I agree. He has things right now that higer drafted rookies do not have, he has pocket awareness, he keeps his eyes down field, he doesn't seem to get flustered either. After 2 games i would keep him on the 53 man. I would love to see him play most of the 4th PS game.

If the Cowboys try to sneak him onto the PS they might lose him. Interesting prospect.

Im sorry and what has Matt Moore done in this league? I think Weeden is all we need at QB besides Romo. 3 QBs is not a luxury we can afford

No thanxs. If we need a QB, then draft one in the 1st or 2nd next year.

Why waste a pick to get a guy that may not be as good as the UDFA that you already have? And if we pick outside the top 10 this year, with the defensive players that we have now, we would put ourselves in a worse spot than we are in now by trying to move up to get Winston or Mariota.

So Vaughan playing against 3rd string defenses mean we should keep him on the 53? Otay.

I can say the same as why waste a pick on DT/DE"s in the draft when we have undrafted DL's on the roster now too.

I don't see Dallas carrying 3 QBs, and Vaughan isn't ready to be your #2. They're going to carry both Lawrence and Spencer on the 53. With the probability that both will be ready to play before they would if they were on PUP. That leaves 51 spots. Do the math

9 OL (3 G, 3 T, 2 C, + 1 "swing" OL)
4 RB (may include a FB---May not)
5 WR
3 TE
10 DL
6 LB
10 DB (5 CB, 5 S, or 6 & 4)
P
K
2 QB

That's 51 + Lawrence and Spencer = 53.

If it was my decision, Vaughan would not play another snap this preseason. There's enough good tape out there already that I don't see him clearing waIvers now.

Fingers crossed that we sneak him onto the practice squad. There's 'too much' film on him now to truly sneak him on however.

With the condition of Romo and the "deer in the headlights" look of Weeden I think I keep a 3rd QB, I don't think we have enough talent to keep that many DBs and DLs

If Weeden has to play we getting a top 5 pick... Mariotta or Petty please.

He looks worth keeping IMO.

If he could sharpen his game up then we may have something in 2 or 3 years.

It's a difficult decision here. I see both sides of the equation. I do like this kids field presence. He's got some Romo in him but he needs work. I think Weeden is a good QB who needs some work on his decision making. He needs time behind a good OL. He got killed out there and I'm a little miffed at the refs letting some of that go.

My guess is Romo will play a little the first half then Weeden will get the majority of the rest and maybe some in the 2nd half. Then Vaughn will play some. Not sure about Haynie. Weeden may start the 4th game and then let the other two have their day in the sun.

That's probably right on except you missed the LS.

EDIT: I'd probably put Lawrence on the designated IR for return. Spencer can go to PUP but he will probably be on the roster as you said. Brent can go to the NFI list. I think there's another who can go on the NFI list as well....can't remember.
