Vela: Maybe Ellis is right?

You know, this is a pretty interesting read, although it lacks any sense at all and any of the multiple questions UN-answered, It is fun to see how far someone will go to get Punished.
reminds me of that Monty Python Holly Grail scene with the knight that keeps on fighting even though his arms and legs are hacked off. Keep it up I love it

Your logic to explain away his ignorant statement is very abstruse.

He was saying Rivera was a good leader but didnt produce, so he wasn't of any value to the team any more. Then he compared it to Greg Ellis, who as I previously stated had value as a leader, and since he didn't produce he shouldn't be given the time of day. The comparison wouldn't make any sense otherwise. Stop coming up with these ridiculous explanations for his stupid and rash statement, it is quite sad.

And no need to be condenscending.
:laugh2:

I don't think I've ever seen anyone come so unglued about a comment as you have about rash statements. Now every time you talk about someone else in the thread they are making them. Becoming unhinged can be funny, as you are proving.

Everyone who is commenting to you is telling you what he meant, even him. Everyone else got it. Why not just tell us the obvious, it flew right over your head, and now you're trying to spin control what he said and can't do it. We all already know this, but if you admit it, the heat comes off.

Maybe for you, but seemingly for the majority of other readers on this thread, not at all. And since his logic is sound, there isn't anything 'ignorant' about it.

Guys, I nearly broke my chair I was laughing so hard. Having done that once before (damn you Yeager) I wasn't looking to do it again.

I absolutely concur with your statement hos, but I wonder if we would be saying the same things about Barry if he had been running behind the same line Emmitt was in the early W's. I think a lot of Barry's creativity stemmed from a lack of holes and a complete lack of faith in his offensive line. I would still take Emmitt over Barry every day of the week, because I believe he was the better all around back, but I do wonder if Sanders would have been unstoppable if he could used his elusiveness 5 yards down field instead of in the backfield every time.

I still think the Gale Sayers was the greatest to ever play that position. Watching some of his runs is like poetry, that cat was simply amazing.

Did you ever see Earl Campbell run ( not to discredit your opinion )

You lost me on this reply. I have clearly said that he should not have gone with this to the media.

Is it the act of going public with it in the first place the basis of cry baby references?
Yes, sir.

I don't think the first instance qualifies as being a cry baby.

Doing it year after year for three offseasons, each time inventing a new reasons why you are acting sobbing and insecure is where the cry baby references originate.

Campbell was a locomotive on two legs. He punished would be tacklers and ran over them with power unseen since Jim Brown, but honestly his running style wasn't poetic. It was just sheer domination.

Have you ever seen Sayers run? Check out the NFLN or something similar whenever they're doing a piece on him. Sayers was Barry Sanders before Barry Sanders. If he had enjoyed a long career, Emmitt Smith might have been chasing Sayers instead of Walter Payton. He was that good.

Without commenting on Ellis's supposed lack of production the comparison doesn't make any sense to me.

And everyone seemingly gets it because they are reading into what the want to believe he said rather than what he actually said.

I have and big Earl makes my top 5 without question. The beauty of top 10 lists are that most lists will contain at least some if not the majority of the same players it boils down to personal preference on how they are ranked. I think you could make an argument for who is the best on any of these backs:

Walter Payton
Jim Brown
Earl Campbell
Gale Sayers
Emmitt Smith

To quote Graham Chapman as King Arthur: You're a loony.

Even though I don't fully agree, I'm willing to mirror my opinion to that of Alexander's. Still, all contract disputes would be best handled out of the media spotlight, imo.

I'll like to add that Campbell's running style was the primary reason for his short career. His knees just couldn't take the fierce pounding he inflicted on tacklers.

I can fully appreciate this point of view. I agree wholeheartedly that he screwed the pooch by going public with it, and that certainly explains some of the disdain felt towards him.

Lovely. Again launching personal attacks to divert attention away from your poor argument to cover up for your stupid statement.

Anywho I have had enough of this, I am going back to the Ranch. At least the mods are a little more even handed.

Therefore it's "rash" right?

:laugh2:

It becomes painfully obvious form this explanation that i was right, you do not know what altruism is.

I wish I could stick around all morning to watch this mock opera, but I have to leave in 15 minutes.
