Vela: Maybe Ellis is right?

Can you prove it didn't? I won't hold my breath for that either.

This is one of those things you know though. C'mon, would you put your money on this not being said?

Greg isn't that kind of character. And these discussions have been going on for a while. It's likely that Jerry has reacted or responded in some manner to Greg's statements about his contract/worth, et cetera.

If Greg lied to the media about this, and is lying to the media to get his way then he's a complete idiot because even an idiot would know that that's not how you get your way.

And be honest, I know you don't like Greg that much. But you'd show great bias to say you believed that Greg made that up and lied to the media.

Even T.O., the least classy of them all, hasn't quite stooped to that level.

But you're telling me that Greg Ellis has? And that he won't be punished for it or anything?

I don't buy that... sorry, Hos.

Oh please scott, like me you're just taking this stance because it's the majority opinion.

:wink2:

You know how you and I are always on the side of the majority.

:D How ya been doin, Hos?

Whats up guys. Wow can't believe this is still going on.

Anywho I would also be shocked if Ellis would flat out lie to the media. And that would be really stupid on his part because that kind of behavior would evoke strong reprecussions from Jerry and Steven Jones. If he did that I doubt Jerry would even give his agent the time of day.

It isn't?

Here's the comment again...

Like I said, it isn't?

Yes, but I didn't say always... Always is all the time... Trust me, there is a huge difference.

It's like saying never.... I hope you get my drift....

Perhaps I should have prefixed it with "at times"....

But I've definitely known you long enough to know that you don't always go with the majority. And I apologize for using a metaphorical comparison to make a point. I shouldn't have brought it to that potentially... personal level.

But I hope you understand that I didn't mean it in a personal way, rather strictly from an argumentative standpoint.

I stand corrected; and I apologize for the misunderstanding.

Sincerely, Hos

Thanks

:)

I'm not the one making the claim. Why should I have to prove anything?

Stuck looking for the popular opinion as always. :D

Not bad at all man. Looking forward to watching the trainers visiting QBs when our defense is on the field.

Thre is no evidence that Jones promised Ellis anything. there is evidence that Ellis wants more security ie more guarantted money.

the problem is he has no leverage. He was hurt last year and the years previous to that he was an average pass rusher producing only 6 sacks a season. this is exactly why he is going to the press because he is trying to manufacture leverage.

The best he could possibly do is sit out the season but if that were the case we could start our first round draft pick and would still have Carp and Glymph in the wings. Thats why he is working his butt off: its his only chance to get paid.

Now even if what happened that Ellis was told something along the lines of Gurode or Hamlin in that if he plays and plays well then he could expect so see some cash. Thats rub in all of this: he hasnt played well.

Jones isnt going to do anything for one simple reason. He doesnt have to and thank god hes not throwing cash at 32 year old slightly above average starters coming off a season ending injury that are still rehabbing.

Yeah- when Ware and say Spencer or Carpenter go down, I'm sure Greg sentiments will go out to those who swept him under the rug. All it takes is an injury or two for the rest of us fans to be saying, what were we thinking with Greg Ellis?

There is not a person walking the earth who never agrees with the majority no matter what the subject. In other words this is ridiculous spin control. Why not defend what you said instead of trying to get away from it? It's relatively easy for me to cite an example (football related) where the majority will never agree with me, and I am not about to ever move from my opinion on that subject. Don't ask, it would shoot your whole claim about me down in flames and expose the truth.

;)

And no I didn't take it personal. It was too far off the mark to feel anything about it.

If you bothered to pay attention I have spent the off season thinking of ways to see Ware, Spencer and Ellis on the field at the same time. If you paid attention, even when he started this latest tirade I said the best option is he shut up and play.

I don't respect this stand he is taking. I have always respected his play on the field but I expect better of him than he has ever produced. I want him to shut up. If he can't shut up I would prefer he be traded or we put him on the weekly inactive list as a statement to future players that think of taking this tack. Frankly I could care less that a couple of you find me crass for insulting him or bashing him. It's real simple, don't read the threads, because as long as he acts like a total fool I am going to pounce on his act like ugly on an ape. I don't care if upsets you or Quincyyyyyyy or Greg Ellis himself.

For me it has always been about what they do on the field. Last year when he produced on the field I went on dcfanatic's radio show and apologized to him personally for having been so mad at him for his whining. If he produces again, I will do it again, because I am always consistent. It is entirely about what works on the football field. I won't apologize for that. I never have, and never will.

Oh, well, what I was actually saying was something a little more philosophically oriented. As in, a lot of times people use the justification that something is a certain way, and it's OK or right that way, because the the majority agrees with the way it is.

That's all I was saying, as an argument. People tend to use the majority's argument to support their arguement, because, well, that's what the majority wants.

As we clearly see, though I'm not sure we can even say it was a majority, with the President. Clearly, the majority made a huge error.

But, hos, c'mon. It was something I said tongue and cheek without thinking.

There's no need to get moody about these things. As I said, I retract the claim. I've seen you on the minority side of things many times.

Sheesh

Ok, man. I don't get to read on here as much as I once did.

I think what you're not getting is that he's a better OLB in the 3-4 than he ever was a 4-3 DE. That's where I think our opinion differs.

Other than that, I hope you do some more apologizing. I think he is a GREAT fit in the Phillips' 3-4. This defense suits him the best, in my opinion. And that's why I've recently changed my stance.

I've done a lot of thinking about it. And hearing him respond about it made me agree. Particularly because I think he can help the team as an outside pass rusher - and he's crucial to our scheme with Wade's D that sends pass rushers from everywhere.

We'll just have to disagree for now. I've been wrong before myself. So no matter, it's all still in good fun. And a lot of the fun is in these kinds of debates.

OK, well, I'm off for a bit.

Cheers

I've been telling you for 5 years now that I don't talk politics except to say one thing, and you can quote me on this. Any other political jabs will hit air. Quote me on this, this is my entire political belief in one statement.

"Anyone who believes that either political party will make a difference is a fool. No matter which side is in power, the same issues will linger. The same needs will go unmet. Neither side is entirely right, nor entirely wrong. Neither side actually cares to fix anything. If they fix everything they are out of jobs. They make their living selling the simple minded on the other side that they can fix everything, and it would already be fixed if not for the other side. I am not a sheep and never will be."

That is my political philosophy and I don't care what yours or anyone else's is. I have no respect for a Democrat ridiculing me as a Republican, and vice versa. Frankly I consider that kind of profiling to be the epitome of ignorance. On both sides of the political fence. I vote my conscience, not a political party. Always have, always will.

I took no offense to what you said (until you once again bring politics into the conversation after 5 years of this BS), so I was nowhere near moody. I simply wanted to ridicule it, and so I did, and now you are moody.

Clear as mud?
