I just wonder how long Red stays committed to the run. I have a feeling sooner or later he is just going to go back to being pass happy at times and then the number of touches each RB gets will be null and void unless it is in the passing game.

I think Wade will see to it that we stay more committed to the run than we have been. I think the ideal that Wade has no say so about what the offense does it off base. Not saying Wade will be calling offensive plays but he will have much to say about the game plan we go into games with.

Then who do you sit?

Again, all you have is about 33 carries to divvy up per game...

Some see 3 good backs as a blessing. I think it's more of a curse.

One or maybe even two of these backs are going to be unhappy with their amount of touches.

IF (and EVERYONE knows that this is a big if) Garrett commits to creating a more balanced offense this year - a pass/run ratio of 53/47 vs the 59/41 of last year - then, splitting up around 30 carries a game shouldn't be that hard in my opinion. I broke the numbers down in post #25, but her they are again:

Barber: 14-15 carries, 60-65 yards; 2-3 catches, 18-20 yards
End of Year Totals: 225+ carries, 1000+ yards; 30+ catches, 250+ yards

Jones: 8-10 carries, 48-60 yards; 3 catches, 30-35 yards
End of Year Totals: 115+ carries, 675+ yards; 30+ catches, 290+ yards

Choice: 4-5 carries, 20-25 yards; 1-2 catches, 8-15 yards
End of Year Totals: 75+ carries, 335+ yards; 10+ catches, 95+ yards
(Edited from Post #25)

Again, there is no reason that this team should NOT be able to run for 130 yards a game, especially when you have 3 backs that could legitimately start for almost every team in the league.

All things being equal, I think Jones gets to 1000 ahead of Barber.

Are you talking just rushing yards?

I could see felix getting 1k all purpose yards pretty easily if healthy but not sure about just rushing yards.

My gut feeling is that if Felix Jones only touches the ball 11 to 12 times on offense per game, then the Cowboys are going to be a less effective offense because of it.

My comment was based on if both were the #1 RB, which can't happen.

That's what I meant when I said, "All things being equal."

12 touches is about 200 for the year - that's pretty good for a guy who is also going to be returning kicks.

Who says that's too much for a guy returning kicks?

Here's a player that has the opportunity to be special-- real special. A TD machine. And not from 2 yards out like one back we know. But from any place on the field.

150 carries and 50 pass receptions is a little low for me.

If he gets 200 carries he's getting 1,000 yards.

Book it! :D

I have no doubt that he can be special. What I doubt is his ability to be special as a 200 carry back. If he's healthy for 200, I'd bet on 1200 - but 200 is a ton of carries for a guy returning kicks and getting integrated into the passing game. Can he get there eventually? Absolutely. But at present I think he's got to build up to that.

Again I ask respectfully who exactly says that 200 carries is too much?

That's only 12.5 per game.

Felix Jones is bigger than Emmitt, he's bigger than Brian Westbrook.

I like the idea of starting any one of the three on any given Sunday, depending on who the opponent is. This also gives added excitment to who ever it is, it's their turn to get the team off to a good start. All three guys bring something different and if they can stay healthy this could be a special season imo.
