I can’t express how apathetic I was about the Cowboys after last season’s catastrophe and wasting all that cap on Dak. I have been a fan for 35 plus years and a season ticket holder for about 20 straight years. I can’t tell you how down I was about this team.
I would like to think that I’m not a happy fan nor a guy who is eternally negative about the team. I try to call it like I see it.
As I said in another thread, the Shotty hire is growing on me and this draft class caused me to be even more optimistic about the direction of this team.
I don’t know how ANYONE can look at our first round pick and not understand why he should be an anchor for this team for a long time. I get the complaints about positional value but his intangibles are VERY encouraging. I love this pick. It seems like we got great value for picks 1.2,and 3. This is the first time in forever that I believe that the Cowboys actually stuck to their board.
The Cowboys also resisted chasing their tail to add a receiver that wasn’t any better than players already on the roster.
Am I excited about RB? No. But it’s not nearly as bad as last year’s RB room was.
I don’t believe that Jerry and Co are done with this class. I think that the team will be open to adding a WR and/or a RB if necessary.
Side note: I LOVE THAT WE ARE BUILDING THE TRENCHES! But it’s interesting just HOW MANY OL we have added to the mix. It seems like we have far too many to make the team. Im
wondering what the plan is with that.
I think that the interior of the OL has been solidified. The question is how iffy is the team on the OL situation? I could see a scenario where Guyton or Steele is a trade or cut before the season starts. I think Shotty is going to create competition like Parcells did and be willing to move on from non performers.
As Booker was speaking I couldn’t help but think how much of an influence could a guy like Booker have on a player like Parsons. He seems like a first class young man. A respectful leader. I could see him going to Parsons and telling him, dude you are a great players but if you focused you could become GREAT. Maybe humble Parsons a little bit.
I love the culture change. I think the results will eventually show up on the field. I believe in this process. I don’t think it’s just lip service.
