Just guessing while killing time during a bout of insomnia, and assuming no TC injuries...

First snap on offense against the Giants (six locks, Romo, Murray, Smith, Witten, Austin, Dez, and almost-certain lock on Fred but not sure if it's guard or center)

Start in 12 package
Romo, Murray
Smith, Livings, Fred, Leary, Free
Witten, Hanna
Dez, Austin

Escobar gets plenty of playing time but Hanna is on the field on first snap.
I'm guessing Leary beats out Berny and the others. I went back and forth on Free and Parnell, but if Leary starts at RG, I'm guessing they put the more experienced tackle next to him in game one. If Berny shows up healthy and stronger, I could see the right side being Berny-Parnell instead. At any rate, I hope I'm wrong and Parnell starts no matter who is next to him. Harris gets most of the snaps at 3rd WR - they trust him more than Williams, who'll have rookie struggles early in the year and maybe longer.

First defensive snap (lower degree of difficulty here...eight locks - the entire line, Lee, Carter, Claiborne, Carr, and a near lock for Church). The only real questions are SLB and safeties.

Ware, Rat at 3, Hatcher at 1, Spencer
Durant, Lee, Carter
Claiborne, Carr, Church, Johnson

No one shows enough to beat out Durant, they go with experience here. Johnson stays healthy and out-talents Allen by a mile.

Owners box: Jerry, Stephen, George Bush, assorted wives and the dude who cleans Jerry's glasses.

Yes, I think that some young players might grade out individually as the best physically, yet not be in the starting lineup for game 1 due to lack of experience at other positions on the Line.

I can't see Leary between the inexperienced Parnell and the rookie Frederick. They did report that he lined up at both RG and LG in the mini-camp.

If healthy, I think that Costa will be in the starting lineup at either OC or OG. Garrett seems to really like him. I'm curious to see the veteran version of Costa at OG. Jerry referred to Costa as small; however, he is listed at 313 and has been reported to be one of the stronger players on the team.

I'm also curious to see Kowalski. I thought that he was as good as Costa in 2011.

I'm hopeful that Parnell beats out Free at RT. Broaddus reported that it was obvious at the mini-camp that Parnell is stronger than Free. It's amazing that a guy that was a college basketball player and weighed about 270 just 3 years ago is now stronger than a 7 year NFL veteran.

I am still quite bummed that we are not talking about Frederick & a new OG as lineup additions.

But I think there is reasonable cause for improved Guard play. Costa, Leary, & Kowalski as competition for Livings/Bern is key. Injuries wiped out Costa/Kowalski last year, and Leary was of course UDFA rookie. Presumably solid Center play (Frederick) this year is also a big plus. Add a healthy vs hobbled Bernadeau and I think we could see a significant step forward.

Hopefully Randle too will be prove to be steady as there was almost zero RB contribution when Murray missed time.

Barring a disastrous camp or injury, Leary is starting at either OG spot. He will get EVERY opportunity to win that spot. Maybe they try him at LG and slide Livings over at RG.
