Veteran QB needed as backup

Actually the grievance is for 2014 when he passed his post draft physical yet the Bengals put him on the NFI list. He lost an accredited season towards free agency because of it. Arbitrator agreed and now hes a FA.

Thanks for the info. I though it was from the failed trade from last year, as that is when I 1st read about it, and the way it read from what I seen.

The draft physical makes more sense then.

True
But I believe the offense they're designing for deck will be a good fit for Cooper so he will have some reps and be able to slip right in.
As far as contracts go Zeke's going to have to have a good year and if Dax out with a significant injury he's not going to have any grounds for demanding a big contract either.

Schemes and play calling are what's going to to decide if the big three coaches keep their jobs or not.

I have high hopes for Rush but I don't know if I would give him the backup role next year. It's a risk, for sure. If you lose Dak and Rush can't get it done, that's a bad show all around. Even though he might fit the Offense, it's still a lot for him. The thing about Pro QBs is that you gotta live it. You gotta see it, experience it before you can understand how to beat it. I just don't think that Rush will, for sure, be prepared for that. The other thing there is that you gotta consider Rush. If he's not ready, it could ruin him. Now, you might say, "hey, he's a backup anyway, who cares?" I do understand that approach, not saying that's what you are saying but, I just kinda think that there might be something to Cooper. I'd really like to see us bring him along the right way. If he's not ready, could break him.

Lastly, I don't think it matters where Zeke's contract is concerned. He's going to ask for the moon, no matter what. We are either going to pay him or try to move him.

We can talk right now. I see nothing like that in this thread. I see a lot of what is posted in this forum. It goes both ways.
So you don't see that but then you see it goes both ways....... Not sure I understand

Here's an option but I wouldn't give Elway any more than a 7th rounder

The Broncos haven’t been shy about discussing their desire to make moves at quarterback this offseason and their desires may go beyond just adding talent at the position.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the Broncos are expected to make Trevor Siemian available in a trade. Siemian has started the majority of Denver’s games the last two seasons, but the fact that the Broncos are going into the offseason hellbent to find another quarterback tells you just about everything you need to know about how well he’s played.

Not what I said at all. I said, I don't see that kind of thing in this thread. You said that I don't see it right here. You suggested that I go read about Dak. I simply told you that I see a lot of threads and I see what is said. It's kind of my job right? What I see is that it's not just pilling on Dak. That goes both ways. Surely you understand what I'm saying here.

All you guys have lost your mind if you think JJ has ever thought about starting anyone other than Dak. Not even a thought. When you add how Romo was forced out and the amount of $$$ Dak has brought in during the past two years, it's never been even a slight consideration .

I’m not sold on Rush either, and I do expect another QB to come in and challenge him.

+1 ....there's a reason they're letting the entire league know they restructuring the offense more Dak-friendly and it's zero to do with Cooper Rush or any other QB.

Definitely need a veteran QB to backup Dak. Cooper Rush may have some potential but to expect him to come in and play like Dak did after taking over for Romo would be a stretch. Philly would have ended up going nowhere without an experienced backup QB this past season.

Don’t stop progress.

You guys who say Rush is nothing don’t have anything to base that on other than his draft position.

And just the sheer odds that he will suck because the overwhelming majority of QBs suck. It's a pretty safe bet.

Nobody is saying that Catch. They are saying that he's probably not ready and that's probably accurate. JMO

I know a lot of people here feel love for Cooper Rush, but for me...meh!! Just a guy for now, someone I absolutely don't want to turn the season over to in the event of a long term injury to Dak. Eliminating the Brees and Cousins of the world. There are many vet QB choices out there, although many that make you throw up in your mouth. But in choosing from the names floating out there for now what are your thoughts?? Do we need a vet QB and what name...

Bradford stands out for me, as a backup and if $$ is right. Siemian may be free soon, maybe??
Some others McKnown or McCarron, not totally sold....

what stands out is the obvious dearth of talent....

I think we need another QB yes. At the very least to push Rush.. Who? Not Weeden. We'll probably look at an UDFA for a PS squad guy. As far as a vet, expect inexpensive and older with experience, and don't expect them to necessarily make the team. Sort of another Luke McCown type

If we go into another season were we bet the farm on an inexperienced, unproven backup that costs us the season, this fan base is going to go nuclear. I can't imagine how unglued this place would go.

It’s going to take a real good backup QB to win with this team. If I’m right only 2 backup QB’s, McGee and Cassel have won a game with the Cowboys during the Romo era when coming in during the regular season. Dak started the 2016 season so I’m not counting him.

I don’t know why anyone would be down on Cooper Rush as a backup, he has the exact same credentials as Dak did before he was forced into play: an amazing preseason and no experience. As a matter of fact, Rush’s preseason was even better than Dak’s and that’s saying a lot because Dak’s 2016 preseason was really good.
