(CNN) -- Federal prosecutors have offered a plea deal recommending an 18- to 36-month prison sentence for suspended NFL quarterback Michael Vick for his alleged role in a dogfighting operation, but Vick's attorneys are trying to reduce that to less than a year, two sources told CNN on Monday.

And vick is holding out for one year in jail. One year? Nah. Bring on the other federal indictments, bring on the long-in-coming state indictments!

For dog-fighting, 18 months seems like a good compromise.
For abject cruelty to animals -- electrocution, drownings etc., the maximum 36-month term seems almost adquate.

I hope every NFL players is following this story.

Because if they are, they will know that Goodell, the new sheriff in town, won't put up with this kind of carp anymore.

And I hope that any suspension Goodell has in mind will come AFTER this thug is released from prison.

Gosh Vick the feds are sorry for this inconvenience and disruption of your football career. If there is anything they can do to accommodate you just ask. This idiot deserves to have the book thrown at him and nail him with the addition charges.

How can Goodell contemplate taking any action when Vick has not admitted guilt? Vick could be innocent and is only contemplatng the plea bargain because of those lying snitches can send him up for a lot of years if a jury believes them and doesn't see that they are lying just to get themselves out of trouble. Vick is getting screwed by the legal system. Those dern snitches will say anything to stay out of jail.

Besides, it is only dogs! It isn't like he was hurting children. We eat cows and that is no difference. Ultimate fighters are more vicious than dogs.

It is these kind of articles that make Vick look bad before he has had his day in court. Goodell should remember this is Vick's first offense. Give the guy a break. He wsan;t gambling. It was an entry fee and there is no way to trace the money to Vick. Is ther any one posting here that has not done worse?

Let me see, did I leave anything out?

I have an idea:

How about if the prosecutors add two months to the sentence for every day that Vick and his legal team drag their feet?

After all, the deadline for the deal was Friday right?

I believe another thing he is trying to be part of his plea deal is stopping state of Virginia's indictment against him.

The clown is also probably trying to negoatiate where he does his time! Was Martha Stewart's case a fed case? If so, look where she went! To a luxary womans prison where she taught the other lady prisoners how to cook.

Maybe if Vick could go to a place like that he could teach the men how to run a dog fighting operation?

What ever the case, I'm happy to see he is not getting a year plea deal. I want him to try and fight this thing. I want him to present his case and see what comes of it. I want him to spend all those millions on his stud defense team and end up gettting the decision done in a court of law.

Why?

Do you get a prize or something if all of that happens? Will there be balloons involved?

I don't have a problem if Vick decides not to take the plea bargain. I would enjoy watching Vick & his supporters squirm when those videos are shown. It will be hard for anyone to ignore video of him actually killing those dogs and paying money to those guys whose dogs beat his dogs in the fighting. Just imagine the reaction in that courtroom and throughout the country when all that blood is flowing while those dogs die. Wonder if the video(s) come with sound.

No I'm not blood thirsty but just disgusted at what he allegedly did & those supporters who see no difference between killing animals for food to eat & dogfighting which includes the brutal killing of dogs who lost or didn't fight well for sport just to satisfy some people's blood lust.

That sucks. I wanted to wait outside the courthouse and release doves as he was cleared of every charge.

We really ought to organize a prayer vigil for the poor guy, let him know he's not alone in all of this...

So after all of the hoopla and BS about Vick mistreating animals what do the animal rights organizations want to do ? You guessed it, Kill the dogs!

NORFOLK, Va. - The federal government is preparing to dispose of most of the dogs seized from Michael Vick's Surry County property during its investigation into a dogfighting operation.

The fate of the 53 pit bulls will rest with a federal judge. Animal rights groups have suggested that the dogs be euthanized because they have been trained to be fighters, not pets.

link

Yes I get the fact that these dog are too 'dangerous' to be maintained as pets but theres just something a little hypocritcal about all of this to me .

I once saw a man shoot into a crowd of city kids killing a friend of mine just missing me by a couple of feet. Because it was 'Gang-related' Mike Vick will do more time than he did.

Wouldn't bother his supporters in the least.

He can do no wrong.
