I'm beginning to like Dilfer, he seems to tell it like it is.....hope he takes over for Meshawn on Countdown next year. That would be great, maybe I'd watch it then.

I've always liked Dilfer... and make no mistake, he won a Superbowl... he also hasn't had a charmed life...
He is married to Cassandra Dilfer, a former Fresno State swimmer, and they have three daughters (Madeline, Victoria & Delaney) and a son, now deceased (Trevin); on April 27, 2003, Trevin lost his 40-day battle with heart disease at the age of 5. On June 2, 2003 Trent made his first public comments regarding his family's loss and, still grieving, openly wept. Aptos High School, Dilfer's alma mater, named their football field Trevin Dilfer Field.
He's an honest guy and I always respect his opinion...

I still think how our OLine fares against the Williams and Jared Allen will be more telling than how succesful Spencer and Ware are.

I remember when he lost his son. That was terrible.

If you watched that on TV and didn't shed a tear, you aren't human...

In this video, ESPN analyst Trent Dilfer says Minnesota offensive tackles Bryant McKinnie and Phil Loadholt face a “total mismatch” against Dallas pass rusher DeMarcus Ware and Anthony Spencer. As a result, the Cowboys will win Sunday at the Metrodome, Dilfer adds, and continue on to the Super Bowl after that.
Sounds good to me. Hope he's right, he seems like a pretty smart guy so let's do it.

We haven't given up too many sacks all year and Flo seems to do better the better the competition. Only Denver's DE gave him problems (2 sacks). Colombo is just as good. I'm not that worried about protecting Romo.

OTOH, Peppers lit Favre up and really took over that game. They had to replace McKinnie.

I still don't think its going to be a cakewalk. But a NO type game could happen.

Peppers is a fantastic player, but no better than Ware...

This game comes down to who takes the lead and makes plays...

I'm not overly enamored of the hype and love the Cowboys have received from the media this week. Although it's not likely to affect the Cowboys -- they've matured considerably over the past two years -- I do worry somewhat about it motivating the Vikings, much like Dungy's prediction of "not a chance" motivated the Cowboys against the Saints.

Not sure about your assessment. I believe Trent is seeing this Cowboys team as a serious contender. One game at a time.

Kool-Aid is flowing like Niagra Falls these days.

Better keep your feet grounded. The Cowboys had better keep their feet grounded. Talk like that can get a weak mind in trouble on game day.

This team is in a bubble. They haven't paid attention to the media (other than the hounding local hacks) all year. There isn't a single thing written about the Cowboys that's going to cause them to lose their focus. That hasn't always been the case, but this is a whole different animal than we've seen in Dallas for a long time.

Good stuff.

Trent Dilfer has been on the Cowboys bandwagon for quite a while.

I don't even want to think about the Super Bowl at this point because it will just be too hard on me if we lose Sunday.

Just to even think that after Sunday, we could be talking about the Cowboys being the NFC Championship Game is just unbelievable.

Dilfer has had the Cowboys back all season. Good on him..

And I hope to agree with him at the end of the next two games.

But. one game at a time. Here's to hoping his prediction is true.

I kind of agree with Trent. If these tackles are as bad as everyone is saying, Ware and Spencer are going to have a field day. And I don't care who the quarterback is, it's hard to get your passing game going if you are facing a relentless pass rush. I don't watch the Vikings quite enough to know if their tackles are as bad as they say, but if they are, the Vikings are in for a world of hurt.

I've watched them, off and on, about 12-13 times this season, when they weren't opposite Dallas - I had Peterson in a fantasy league. I think Dilfer's right on. McKinnie seems lazy at times and can be beaten with speed. Loadholt's a rookie and has held up OK, but sometimes IMO he can be a step slow getting into position. Plus, being a rookie, I don't think he's there strengthwise yet.

I found a link to a site (don't know how legit it is) that shows individual sacks allowed as of 12/04/09, as well as the median time it took for each sack (2.8 seconds according to this). McKinnie had allowed 5 , and Loadholt 4. Of course, Minny played Carolina after these stats were compiled, so add 3 for McKinnie.

I'm hoping they (vikings) keep Shianco(-sp) in a lot to max protect and focus on running because I believe that will not only keep their scoring down but play into Dallas' strength.
I fully expect tons of 3-5 step drop passes over the middle from them though.
